The video shows these guys here:

They're apparently a left-wing children's theater/circus in the USA, no idea about the patterns tho.

I didn't think much at first either but it really grew on me. TBH, after listening to TH a few times after release day, I never listened to it again until last year and started to really appreciate it. The NEW SEEDS have to be planted and given time to grow before they bear fruit, ya dig?

thank you for sharing that information, that wikipedia was an interesting read. i was intrigued by the boc video because of how the people involved in the "show" didn't seem very self conscious at all. the way they were all dancing in unison and acting like butterflys and stuff. my first reaction when watching the video is that it was some kind of cult where literally everyone had taken acid, lol

Is the "left wing" stuff really a necessary descriptor? Vermont makes me want to drop acid and drink Heady Topper, no politics necessary.

Lets just say it's very Vermont without having to use manmade "us vs them" language.

I really like the remix. Original is nice too. I like how BoC changed the harmony--added some other chords and gave it that slightly melancholy/bemusing dorian sound. They've been on a dorian kick lately. The NEVERMEN remix was arguably dorian during the climax as well. As was the little snippet they made for that awards ceremony a couple years ago.

Well, i know nothing about vermont so i can't say much hahaha
Well; i read the wiki article and they sound pretty lefty, as far as people from the USA go. Also, i fail to see why calling something left wing is an us vs them thing, it's not an insult to call something left wing (well, maybe in the usa).

Finding connections that don't exist here but. One of the Causes of this theater group was in opposition to the World Trade Organization. The WTO was put in to place on 01/01/1995 (the same date that all Tomorrow's Harvest CD's are set to when put in to a computer)

I've seen Bread & Puppet live (I live in Vermont and I went to a "pretty lefty" college, where they came and performed ... I also work at a publisher that, way back when, published a book on Bread & Puppet).

...which doesn't contribute to the conversation, really, but I was just excited to see Vermont / Bread & Puppet mentioned.

it's not that it's an insult but left/right is inherently an us/them thing in a way no matter what your intentions are.

i think opothecary just meant its a drag – and this definitely exists in the usa – to need to speak of things in a political context all the time, to have anything that deviates from convention labeled as 'left wing' when its normalcy is completely relative.

and i'm moving to vermont !

Am I the only one that wouldn't mind BoC's new album to sound minimalistic like this?

As long as it's good I really don't mind.

And if this is what we have to go by, it won't be good. It would be be great!

I love simplicity in music if it's done right. Look at so many of BoCs songs already: Corsair, Nlogax, Amo Bishop Roden, Kaini Industries, Olson, A Moment of Clarity, Telepath, Heard from Telegraph Lines, etc... And now the Sisters remix.

Look at David Gilmour's guitar work in so many Pink Floyd's songs. Most of it is not super complex by any means, but they make up some of my favorite guitar pieces ever.

I really don't see that either a minimalistic song or a complex song is better than the other. Both can be done poorly and both can be amazing.

What I'd like to see is what they have been more or less doing already: Making albums with both. It's working great so far. It allows for awesome pacing effects for your actively thinking mind. You'll have a much more difficult time listening to 10 super complex songs in a row, and it's not always great to listen to 10 super simple songs in a row. Mix them up skillfully, so it's a kind of contrast for your perception of the album as a whole.

That said, if anyone can pull off a totally minimalistic album, BoC can do it. They've proven themselves to be able.

It's funny that people are complaining about there only being 50 copies. Perhaps they've forgotten that there aren't really any big companies left duplicating VHS tapes. They probably just hired Adrian Blacow to sit in his studio and duplicate these tapes with two VHS machines connected to each other. Mike and Marcus probably helped by paying Adrian with a part of their spare Rodox Video vhs collection. But 50 vhs tapes takes a while. Give Adrian a break for goodness sake. He has better things to do.
