Didn't anyone ever notice that one of the BOC website animations has a channel with insect noises? When you fly around one of the islands, one of the sound poles is just insect noises.. I always thought that's where those tracks got it.. the ones with insect noises inserted at the end.
Anyways.. what kind of scurvy bastards would mislable tracks? What's the point?

I would be very surprised if that piece isn't made by Loess. Sounds like just the kind of wandering synths and quirky percussion they use..gfresh wrote:That thread contained my first post... still, no one knows what the mystery BoC imposter track is I found...

I might have to agree with you here. There are several signature Loess sounds in this track. The only thing that seems out of place is the wolves/coyotes samples that flow in and out of the track. I know Loess used to have a couple hidden tracks on their site, but never got a chance to grab em.chzi wrote:I would be very surprised if that piece isn't made by Loess. Hah, my first post...Goiter Sanchez wrote:Hey guys. I am a BOC fan from British Columbia, Canada. I own all of BOC's major releases on CD (save some of the artist albums with one BOC remix present) and am in the process of collecting up MP3 of their vinyl only and/or unoffically released tracks.
I have run across a track labelled Echo The Sun which is 05:40 long and predominately features chirping insect noises. It is actually quite nice and if it isn't the work of BOC, then indeed it is the work of a talented ambient musician.
I also have a version of Everything You Do Is A Balloon labelled as the Gescom Mix. It is 10:32 long and features no attempt at remixing the actual song (This is the same version of EYDIAB that appears on the Hi Scores EP). However, after EYDIAB ends, the remainder of the track length is taken up an excerpt from the aforementioned Echo The Sun track.
Can anyone confirm whether or not this Echo The Sun track might be a mislabelled Gescom track or otherwise?
I also have a 07:01 copy of Seward Leaf purportedly from Hooper Bay. It features a synth that sounds like acoustic guitars and an occasional sample of something being dropped into water; I have a feeling this might be one of those Mum tracks wrongly attributed to Hooper Bay.
Has anyone else found these or have any pertinant info on them?
I'm pretty sure that's not a loess track - sounds like a poor copy to me.
I've got pretty much everything they've done - the secret tracks on nonresponse were ones they did while known as 'seaweed soup': daphnia, forked and one of the live sets. This mp3 certainly isn't one of those.
While the nonresponse.com tracks have been removed (aside from a tobias lilja track) you can listen to a veritable feast of early loess music here: http://phobos.serve.com/seaweed_soup/?D=A including the aforementioned hidden mp3s. The big live sets are more like their codec scovill stuff - very slow and ambient.
davidac hid the hidden mp3s on his site as a bit of a homage but he probably just hid the link to nonresponse (they were all accessible at http://www.nonresponse.com/audio/)
As you can tell I'm a big loess fan...

I have the same exact thing. It sounds like she says "Please don't flow so fast, you little moon..." And I am completely in love with it, BoC or not.automatique wrote:I have recently found and downloaded mp3s of tracks claiming to be the album "Hooper Bay". They are within 2 secs of the lengths listed in Fred-e's discograhy - ie: these are NOT the short excerpts commonly found on Soulseek.
The tracks sound completely different to the "fake" excerpts, but I'm still not sure if they are BOC. One track "Circle" has a wispy girly vocal during the second half. I can't make out many of the words but I hear "you flow so fast, you little ???" and some other phrases.
Anyone else come across these or have any idea what they may be? I'm sceptical, obviously.
Is this a fraud? I'll upload it...

Almost certainly a 'múm' track; definately not a BoC track.Twoism-ist wrote:I have the same exact thing. It sounds like she says "Please don't flow so fast, you little moon..." Re: Some BoC information (fakes and info on old stuff)
What's the track length of the one without pub conversation? And does it sound like A-Z or with cut off?pyramidpanes wrote:ive heard 2 versions of the xyz track, one with the john peel conversation about pubs with boc before the track & one with out the pub conversation

hey.. while we're here, I've got an odd little piece from Old Tunes 2 in between "heysanna hosanna" and "fly in the pool" of just people speaking in an old movie or something. I think the guy is saying "the inspector's been questioning me again about Gary". I didn't see it listed on bocpages; is this in everyone's copy? It's only about 8 seconds long
