Yeah, that would be a hard album to top. It still stands the test of time as one of my favorite albums. I think the whole David Banner thing is kind of meant to be a joke. All I can say is he better release something soon!

private press was kind of a weak followup

i mean it was ok, but nothing earthshattering

endtroducing was always going to be a hard one to follow up though, i guess

Well DJ Shadow the' Jimi Hendrix' of the sampler made his best record ever in 1996 "Entroducing" on Mo Wax, let's be thankfull for that, and no " The Private Press " wasn't that good, but i live with hope!

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the Private Press.

Contrary to popular opinion, I don't think Private Press is a step down from Endtroducing. They're very different albums in terms of mood and focus.

Again, why must every distinction in music be one of qualitiy?

I just don't want Shadow to abandon his instrumental edge- his personal stuff is way better than anything he's done with rappers...

Has anyone else heard the Outsider? I need some feedback from other people. The Shadow forum is about as lame ass as forums get. I need some opinions I respect. I'm kind of in shock, to be honest.

SHIT!

I just don't understand. I don't understand.

How, how, how can the man that made What Does Your Soul Look Like Pt. 2 and Stem/Long Stem sink as low as the Outsider?

This is not hyperbole: THE RECORD BLOWS. IT BLOWS! I expected to be challenged, but not straight up dissapointed. But the fact that Shadow actually put a track like "You Made it"on an album, actually believing that it wasn't the most embarrasing thing he has EVER added to his catalogue... is just staggering to me.

Shadow was my musical hero from my senior year of high school until Warp Records kind of did a hostile takeover on my listening habits... BUT I WANT HIM BACK DAMMIT!

I was tempted to download the outsider but I have yet to hear one good thing about it. Is it worth it?

I heard the whole album on the radio yesterday and it's lousy.

Nah... my name has a doublemeaning. It was merely inspired by that track title. Honestly I think more about mission impossible when I look at my handle now than DJ SHADOW.

I can't stop listening, excited for what he's got for this album. Sounds like he's taking a lot of inspiration from the direction of liquid amber, a lot more wide open synths and wild tech-y sounds.

This is funny - I was just going to post something here at the weekend on my admiration for Endtroducing. What a beautiful record. I Gave up on him years ago though as I just wasn't digging the direction he was going in

I guess it's part of a dj's job to know how to put a spin on current sounds. I think at this point, we're not going to hear him go back. As sad as that is, I think it would be weird to hear him come out with endtroducing 2. So many people have followed his sound and basically made it themselves. Sort of like how it might feel a little lackluster if we heard eccojams 2 or something, there might as well be dozens of them from all the copy cats out there.

There is a lot I respect I have for him pushing this hard for this many years. All the events and shows and releases, it's crazy. Dude either loves his craft or has a lot that he feels like he needs to prove.
