Hello, I've been fan of this forum for a while (couple of years actualy) but never registered or posted anything. I've made small ep Habitat and would love to hear som feedback from you here's the link: https://subrealms.bandcamp.com/album/habitat-ep
I focused more on the mood rather than rythm or melodies. Anyway I'd love some feedback as it was big deal to me to put something on the web and actualy almost no of my friends know that try to make music, so i never had a chance to hear form anyone what they think .

It definitely feels like an album that needs the listeners investment of time/attention/imagination before they get something out of it. The tracks I was drawn to most were 153B, Rooftop, and Staircase.

153 B - I really enjoyed the accelerating/decelerating noise, and I think I almost wish that was played with a bit more. Like if the core fuzzy sound was evolving along with the tremolo, or if it got louder/more distorted as it slowed down or something. I thing the whole track could have been based just in playing with that fuzz. You're obviously trying to take risks here, I say get rid of the tonality in that track altogether! It would make the introduction of the chords in the next track even more powerful.

Rooftop - I'd say what really drew me to this one was that bass note. It just feels like a perfect, subtle counterweight to what feels like maybe the most frantic/tense part of the album. It like when it's stripped away to just that note too. I feel like this track could have been longer, just exploring what that little bass note could carry along with it. that moment at the end, where it is alone felt like it could have been a cool segue into another pattern.

Staircase - I think this might be the simplest track on here? I feel like it's a really digestible break in between the more experimental compositions

All in all, I think I enjoy your really dry noises more so than the reverbed bits. It's a personal thing, but minimal albums with simple hissy noises always make me feel like I'm at a desk watching a bunch of papers and trinkets slide around, and it feels super cozy. I think if you want to have something like this make a big impact, consistency is key. (again, just a personal taste) It would be cool to hear tracks that were either totally dry, or maybe so pushed into the distance with reverb that they feel like they are in their own universe. Also, your description about making something focusing on mood rather than rhythm and melody makes me wonder about how much inherent mood there is in something like a drum beat? Sorry I drank too much coffee and that last bit is a little unrelated. Also, I love the album artwork. Reading the names of the tracks along the way made me feel like I was in some kind of point and click adventure, and the image of build tops kind of helped push that feeling of a maze-y journey.

That is exactly what I was trying to accomplish, the vibe of being lost in large decaying housing complex.

What industry? I have a lot of friends in design an motion graphics, and they seem to pop up as frequently as they get shut down. Seems like a really volatile environment; meanwhile. I'm serving coffee and it's the longest job I've had haha
