Re: BOC tattoo
What's the rest a nod to? Unless it's the cover of some album i've never had the good fortune to lay my eyes on before? Apologies if ignorant, but i'm intrigued on the significance the overall image has to you!Group Hex wrote:Added a nod to BOC in the tie, just got this a few days ago.
...really hoping it isn't a famous image i'm merely unaware of.
Re: BOC tattoo
It's inspired by a recurring nightmare I had as a child, well dressed animals hanging out in my living room and having polite conversation. Until they saw me. Also a bit of a play on the 'wolf in sheeps clothing' scenario, things aren't always what they appear to be, etc. There's a bit more to it, but that's the idea from which the image sprang. The lightning bolt lapel pin is part admiration for and commemoration of a massive lightning storm I witnessed - and a nod to electricity in general, and my fathers career in music.
The turquoise hexagons had to be worked in there!

Fantastic inspirations for a tattoo and even more fantastic dreams. It's a great piece of work, and the BoC flourish is a brilliant icing on the cake.Group Hex wrote:It's inspired by a recurring nightmare I had as a child, well dressed animals hanging out in my living room and having polite conversation. My BoC tattoo suggestion is probably a hexagon. inconspicuous is probably best I think, BoC lend themselves to subtlety.

I've seen some pretty cool BoC tattoos before. One of the best was this thing:

If I had to get a tattoo, I would probably get a hexagon outline, either black or turquoise. Maybe with something BoC related in it.

Re: BOC tattoo
So I've had all these tattoo ideas for years but I've never got one because I don't want to regret it and Josh Eustis made me realized that I mainly just want to stick to black ink. Minimal. My brother's the guy who gets the big dragon on his shoulder.
And the way I wanted it was was fairly balanced and on each arm. It's supposed to be four phrases with one going vertical and one horizontal, like a T shape. I always felt Kanji is a far more distinct, fitting and aesthetically pleasing way to phrase descending text and that's probably how I'd get the vertical ones on the forearms and the horizontal ones would be at the wrists in English (but I may not go with the Kanji if it's still too cheesy).
So, the right arm is:
"All I've undergone I will keep on" (Kanji)
"Please Proceed As Planned" (English)
The left arm is:
"Everyone in the world is doing something without me" (Kanji)
And then I don't know with the English bit but I've wanted something BoC because it's all musical. Problem is I can't think of an appropriate phrase from BoC's discography that really corresponds to the meaning of inking these as they're supposed to directly cancel each other out.
Any ideas? Something dark but something human. Can't be "A god with hooves..." etc. - though that's cool, it's not relevant. I need something pessimistic. *Anything* BoC that fills that space will do.
And by the way...anyone else get Kanji tattoos? Regret it at all?

Okay...now...wait for fog machine.

Re: BOC tattoo
Hey! Hope there's still someone active on this forum! I just got a BoC Exagon tattoo, but I decided to personalize it, because I didn't really like the original three colours (I chose the colours of the Romanian flag, given my time spent here in Romania as international student). I also like their combination.

Throw away your smartphone.
Re: BOC tattoo
Cool tattoo, I've been thinking about getting that as well, but decided tattoos aren't really for me.

Re: BOC tattoo

I was thinking of getting this hexagon in black for a tattoo. And then have boc written in the middle. And also with the white smeares.

Re: BOC tattoo
BoC should release sets of rub on tattoos with their reissues.
For those of us that where put off tattoos forever from the fact that their memories of them involve making a stick and poke, staining their now ex's initials into their skin and later having to turn it into a weird black box on their ancle. Luckily my current partner decided to get a matching black box on her ancle a year ago so here's to hoping we get married someday.
I just realised I can legitimise this by claiming it is a reference to the black box album listing on BoC's website that stirred up a hornet's nest a while back. It is totally that and not the other thing
