Re: CIRKLON3
Am I the only one who REALLY doesnt get the video? Why a 12 year old? Why is it mostly kids dancing terribly with some rdj face? I made videos exactly like that when I was 12, guess I missed out.

You're thinking too much about it. I thought the video was cute and captured the feeling of the track well. It's just meant to be fun, and I enjoyed watching how much fun the kid was having while making it.nick47 wrote:Am I the only one who REALLY doesnt get the video? Why a 12 year old? Gorgeous track, by the way. This is the first thing he's released since Analord that I feel has the same lushness as his old ones. I really didn't hear any BoC in there, though.
Re: CIRKLON3
Thats pretty much it. The kid was uploading videos of him dancing to Aphex to youtube and they decided to use his stuff. Or so the story goes.
I think that's pretty cool and yeah. .. who didn't do that kind of thing at that age while playing out? And your sister and her mates would come up with a dance routine? Not everything means everything, sometimes it's just about joy.

This, but also, I felt challenged by this video and, consequently, I think Aphex is doing something neat here.MrMessiah wrote:Not everything means everything, sometimes it's just about joy.
This is a profoundly "uncool" music video ... low production value, a seeming general lack of polish and planning, and not to mention it's made by a person in that awkward period of life most of us would like to forget (12 years old? Weird Times).
Not to reverse over the "not everything means everything" statement that I just agreed with, but I find this to be a daring and interesting choice on his part.

I hear litterly nothing but Aphex Twin sounds in the music.

But don't forget that Aphex was doing those "BOC-esque" chord progressions a few years before BOC even put out "Twoism."

i don't get why this was posted in the BoC forum.
I like the basslines a lot. Everything else around it sounds a bit corny (pun intended).

Yeah I thought the video sucked. Nowhere near as cool as the Come To Daddy video/nick47 wrote:Am I the only one who REALLY doesnt get the video? Why a 12 year old? Why is it mostly kids dancing terribly with some rdj face? I made videos exactly like that when I was 12, guess I missed out.

But I thought this track was much better than anything from Syro - The melodies were great, wonderful rhythms and a nice melancholic feeling.

Re: CIRKLON3
Brilliant track. Bassline was clearly made on SH-101 and so to speak this is something made in the 90's.

Yeah, that's why my prepared acoustic guitar stuff is an example of 1940s experimentationmono/chrome wrote:Brilliant track. Bassline was clearly made on SH-101 and so to speak this is something made in the 90's.

Also, the bridge in that song is basically Ageispolis all over again except with the strings being FM.

Re: CIRKLON3
Heard it, don't think it blow my mind, the melody I like, still my favorite Aphex Twin album is Syro, many could disagree, still, I never was his fan, some people who recognize my BOC tshirt somewhere at the party ask, so do you also fan of Aphex Twin? I say, no
