I knew there would be a Stranger Things thread around here sooner or later...

Fantastic show, brings me back to my childhood. I like the music, I think it's more that the music in the series and TH have a shared influence rather than it being a ripoff of BoC themselves. If TH wasn't TH, I don't think people would be making the comparison. Those arpeggios...

It's like Super 8, but a 1000 times better. Great tribute to 80s sci-fi/horror movies, but stands on its own mostly because the characters are so good.

Checked out episode 1 tonight and it's great. Touch of the Spielberg's about it, but in a good way.
Interested to see how it plays out.

Watching it now. Obsessed. The guys who do the music are part of an Electronic group called S U R V I V E. So good.

I've been watching it this week. Watched chapter 5 tonight.
The music, and also the credits font reminded me of Tomorrow's Harvest. Same aesthetic influences.
Did anyone else think that the whole 'cold-war-mind-control-telepathy-laboratory-experiment-with-kid' scene had a very umm 'telepath' vibe?

And don't forget that grils name: Eleven (palace posy)

Also, in my opinion the hole soundtrack sounds very like http://music.disasterpeace.com/album/it-follows.

Yeah, it's my first post and sorry for my english. :)

I don't get as much of a BoC Vibe as I do a Tron vibe.

Besides that yea, absolutely loved the show.

So I just watched episode one, and saw a whole world of influences - many of which I'm sure were the same material BOC drew on for TH. Spielberg (yeah, Super 8, but that was basically a Spielberg homage) - the whole American suburban recreation was straight out of ET. Carpenter. The Shining was all over the opening credits. I'm loving it. I'm sure the music makes a nod towards TH on some level, but I suspect its more influenced by those 80's soundtracks that TH itself comes from. The Andromeda Strain was in there and The Goonies! yup. Good show so far.

Do you think BOC were the first to use arpeggios? Man, you need to dive into some John Carpenter films and then rethink your opinion.

Just finished ep 4. Fantastic show. Takes me back! Those shots of the kids on their bikes with the lamps reminds me of The Explorers. Remember that one, anybody?

Oddly enough Winona Ryder is the only person I hated in the series. You'd think she'd destroy this, but her overacting and not being believable leaves a lot to be desired.

Loved the cop character though ever since Chapter 1 waking up with a beer and a smoke in the morning. 8)

I'd love to see a comparison of people who grew up in the 80's and those who didn't compared with who liked the series and who didn't. I would think anyone who grew up in that time would immediately have a fondness for this series, just for the nostalgic throwbacks alone.

I somehow didn't notice this thread until now. My father's been watching the show every day and I'm surprised by the quality of the music. It reminds me heavily of Justin Walter at times.

Great show, basically a love letter / mix tape to anyone who grew up in the 80s, and such a sweet soundtrack. They ripped me off tho as I was the first person EVER to use arpeggios!!! ;) :D
