If you heard Wildlife Analysis completely out of context, which would you assume is coming next?

The Wildlife Analysis Future Anticipation Psychology Test

Post by Jango9 »

So say someone's got a CD changer or something of the like which potentially has Music Has The Right and/or BoC Maxima in it, and you hear Wildlife Analysis starting up but don't know which album it is. Which does your brain jump to first?

I'm not entirely sure why I want to know this, but I do.
If The Campfire Headphase was a butterfly, would Acid Memories be the caterpillar?
Spoiler: show
Unfortunately I have no clue lmao. But while you're here, go ahead and check out some of my tunes! You might dig 'em and stuff!

I listened to Music Has the Right many times before I went into their less public releases, i'd think An Eagle in Your Mind :)

An Eagle in Your Mind, because it's one of the best BoC songs ever, and between you and me I never really got that into Boc Maxima. If you tell that to anyone I will never forgive you.

I happen to love both Chinook and An Eagle In Your Mind, so this is a tough one, but I'd probably have to say Chinook. I prefer Maxima to MHTRTC (by quite a bit actually), so I'd rather listen to it.

Great idea for a thread! I don't usually listen to Maxima as a whole, since most of its tracks are available elsewhere in better quality. And the version of Chinook on the Aquarius single is far superior anyway. I do, however, expect to hear King Of Carnival after The Color Of The Fire. I think you might actually be able to hear it fading out at the end of the MHTRTC version, but that might just be my imagination. I also expect the respective next tracks from R35TT to play after Blueberry and Orangey when they appear on Children. Needless to say, I'm a big fan of the old tunes. I hope we'll get to hear some more oldies soon, leaked or otherwise ;)

I'd be much more interested to see a survey like this but for Finity.

Same with me. I listen to the Old Tunes much more frequently than any of the studio albums, but that isn't a secret around here.

Agree with the above, cool idea for a post.
Not to be confused with a 'which do you most prefer' test, I still have to say eagle in your mind. Both tracks are on par for me as they are too wildly different to weigh on the same scales.

Here's another one. What do people expect to hear following the blueberry interlude? I swear its everywhere, two official releases, r35tt and one of the 'Old tunes' if I am not mistaken ?

I like Chinook more (both are in my top 10 BOC tracks tho) but because I heard Music way before I even knew BOC Maxima existed it's got to be Eagle.

The start of Sixtyten again, cause I've put it on repeat. :D

For me, it's gotta be Forest Moon. Finity and Forest Moon are two of my favorite old tunes, and I often listen to them together, while I don't care much for A06 (I know you'll hate me for that, ).

I can't put myself in the mind of someone who doesn't love A06, sorry. Forest Moon is a really good follow-up to that track, but A06 shares a lot of the rhythm and ambience of Finity. My guess would be that they're both from the Closes period, since they have that distinct sound that's common among all the tracks that are purported to be off that album.

Assuming I'm not a wizard, but I somehow got my hands on a copy of Maxima that doesn't have tape hiss at the beginning, I'd say Eagle despite my preference for Maxima.

In the same vein, I wonder how many people think of Happy Cycling as the last track of MHTRTC and how many think One Very Important Thought is.
Personally, I belong to the former.

My copy of the album is a vinyl one and not a CD, so One Very Important Thought has always been last for me.

All the bonus tracks seem to be out of place. From One Source All Things Depend plays after a track of silence, Macquarie Ridge follows a track that very slowly fades to silence, and Happy Cycling comes after a track that says "Now that the show is over..."

You're right about the others (especially "from one source all things depend" always thought that was a shoehorned attempt at contrast. I could go on about how much I dislike the track.) but when I first listened all the way through MHTRTC, One Very Important thought was like the last scene of the movie and happy cycling is the epilogue or credits. I mean even the end of Happy Cycling just sounds like you could be seeing the last bits of the credits as it ends. I think it works perfectly as the closer, the others not so much.
