Damn, they ruined my new theory with a Tweet and a Facebook post maybe 10 minutes after I sent it to the question box. :) I'll take activity even if it means being totally wrong. I love their recent Twittter likes referencing being "late to the game"...it's subtle, but a master class in trolling their audience.

Huge fan of everything BoC has ever made, but Nothing is Real is one of the handful of tracks I would go out my way to personally thank them for. Profusely. This track had (and still has) profound effects on me.

Nice video, btw. I remember this coming out soon after TH's release.

"Nothing Is Real" also pretty much sums up the state of all the supposed leaks and old tracks that've surfaced since the three well-known old tapes.
If The Campfire Headphase was a butterfly, would Acid Memories be the caterpillar?

Unfortunately I have no clue lmao. But while you're here, go ahead and check out some of my tunes! You might dig 'em and stuff!

Indeed it is, but I don't think you'd disagree after seeing my collection of bogus BoC:

And this is just the ones that aren't real BoC tunes with mismatched ID3 tags.

Currently entertaining myself (in a masochistic way) by imagining that all of the posting of old material is them subtly saying "focus on the stuff we've already released, you dicks."

HAHAHAHAHA! Funny enough, that has been the exact thought running in and out of my head the last couple of weeks!

The other, more exciting thought is, maybe the brothers are being more engaged in their community now? I mean, since they've had kids, the world (and it's connectivity) has changed DRAMATICALLY.

Maybe they are tinkering around.

It makes me chuckle to think of them huddled around a screen in their underground bunker, randomly clicking like and share on things and giggling the whole time because they understand the hornets nest they are kicking...every. single. time.

the tweet went out at 57 after the hour, whatever that's worth. looks like you'd have to have been in samoa to nail it.

taken with the choice of song, I think if there's a message it's to just chill a bit (with a wink).

XYZ contains a sample of "It Would Be Like Samoa" by Edgar Froese. The New BoC album is in Samoa. That's it, I'm packing the bags right now.

This place is so lame. You can't even suggest that we should chill on the numerology without waking up some stupid troll.

I noticed that too and wondered where in the world 2:57 would have been. Cheers.

They've posted Maquairie Ridge, Broken Drum, Peacock Tail and Nothing Is Real..... maybe they're hinting that the next release will be all about this chilled out Campfire type vibe.

I'm hoping for a chilled out but not boring vibe. The first 3 are great tunes from my least favorite era. Give me something sort of like the best parts of the first 2/3 of TCH with a little menace and steel just under the surface. I like my Boards mellow but uneasy. It sounds like a contradiction but that's why I love them, they can pull it off.

I think the social media stuff is coming from someone at Warp. The favs on Twitter seem like slightly thoughtless, nearly random likes on @boctransmission mentions. For all we know, the brothers don't even have the logins and have to email somebody at Warp if there is something like an RIP Bowie or whatever they want to post.
preparation for a dive.

Regardless of who it's coming from, it's unusual to see social media activity like this. It's not like whoever is managing it somehow forgot there was a BoC twitter and FB.

I'm skeptical that Warp is updating their social media for them. They just don't seem like the types to give up that type of control - even if they think social media is ephemeral I doubt they would want anyone else speaking for them in a perceived official capacity, even if its just posting fan videos.

There has been sort of a method to their madness in terms of the frequency of actual tweets - 6/6, 7/7 (retweet of a post from 7/2), 7/31, 8/24. They seem kind of locked into an every 24 days pattern right now, I wonder if it will accelerate soon and we'll see something on 9/9, for example. That's just the facts so far, there's no point in overthinking it for now. If 9/9 comes and goes I will definitely give up caring at that point!

I agree. Especially with the numerology. Given all of the meaning behind numbers in their works, and given that they go from almost no social presence to a seemingly random flurry of activity all of the sudden- just doesn't gel to me that this is just them suddenly engaging fans/social media, out of the blue.

I thought you were on to something with the 6/6 and 7/7, but that specific pattern stopped, but then the liking things in series of whatever number(s) and so on. I just can't see this activity being random and just to to finally interact with people. Randomness and interacting with people have never been them.

All of this said, as fun as the games and guessing are with this band, I'm a little over it at the moment. I do take the recent activity to mean more than just sudden randomness though.
