Nothing big, but something
Hi everyone,
Two weeks ago, I was reading the newspapers with an early morning coffee.
In an interview for the local press, French composer Yann Tiersen (well kown for movie soundtracks: Good Bye! Lenin, Amely...) said had the opportunity to create something special for a 10 years anniversary's venue, in the town i'm working these days.
It ended as a dj set.
"Au début, pour les dix ans, on était parti sur un truc un peu spécial. C'était une carte blanche et j'avais dit que je bosserais bien avec Boards of Canada, mais il y avait un souci de planning. En même temps, c'est cool pour l'avenir, ça peut être chouette ! Du coup je leur ai proposé de mixer, ça s'est fait comme ça."
Translation of his own words:
"In the begining, four the 10 years we were on something special. I had Carte Blanche, and I said that I'd like to work With Boards Of Canada, but there was a schedule issue. At the same time it's cool for the future, it could be nice! So I proposed a dj set (to the venue), it happened like that"
I asked for another coffee to read it again.
Nothing big, but something. Maybe.
Have a nice week-end.

« Yann Tiersen DJ »,
l'initiative vient de vous ou c'est une demande de La Carène ?
He stated being interested to work with Boards of Canada, but there were some scheduling errors which canceled that idea. However it's apparenly still cool (to consider?) for the future, it could be fun, he said. So, because working with BoC was not possible, he proposed doing a DJ set instead, and that's exactly what he did.
TLDR; Musician wants to work with BoC. Not possible. Gives DJ set instead.

Yann was given the opportunity to do something special for the 10 year anniversary of La Carene.Au début, pour les dix ans, on était parti sur un truc un peu spécial. 'Scheduling errors' - makes me wonder whether that was just their excuse for not doing it or whether they are busy putting the finishing touches to the next album or whatever
Re: Nothing big, but something
It's (deliberately) ambiguous I think. Like you said it could imply multiple things:deadfly wrote:'Scheduling errors' - makes me wonder whether that was just their excuse for not doing it or whether they are busy putting the finishing touches to the next album or whatever
- BoC was willing to do, but they couldn't make it in time for the 10 year anniversary event deadline
- BoC didn't want to do it (simply no interest), but Yann still uses "soucis de planning" as an excuse for the cancelation
- BoC didn't want to do it (they've got no time because they're working on their imminent new LP)
Re: Nothing big, but something
Maybe it's the polite way of saying "no thanks, yann".

It must be this. I could see it going something like "Sorry Yann, but we've had this scheduling issue for the last 17 years that we can't seem to work out. Maybe next time."Cupz wrote:Maybe it's the polite way of saying "no thanks, yann".
