Well spotted. As it is a site referencing US distribution dates as opposed to official release dates, that would indicate the actual intended release for said album would be significantly sooner. Does anyone know how long warp where using Matador for distribution in the US? It looks like it was solely for MHTRTC, checking it over quickly.

The omission of the full date of release on the Matador site (why would they be asked to omit a date if it wasn't to prevent a premature discovery of the release) alongside promotional, albeit for past releases, previews being released on Soundcloud does point to the kind of pre-announcement activity one would expect.

Not quite time to break out the Ron Paul gifs, but keep them on standby and keep the detonation codes written down and close at hand. Genuinely but cautiously excited about this.

I believe that MHTRTC is the only release to have been distributed in the US by Matador for BoC so it's weird that they've made any kind of change recently, seemed one and done. Pretty sure Warp started distributing their own releases in the US in late 1999 or early 2000, so IABPOITC was handled directly by them.

Its true. I don't see why they would revert back to Matador for US releases seeing as Warp have the capability to release overseas independently now. Equally, it makes little sense in any other context as to why they would suddenly create a listing for an unnamed album with a future release date under their BoC section, but combined with recent online activity from various Boards related pages...

A mistake - Quite unlikely that a Matador admin would even be editing a listing for a group they haven't worked with for well over a decade on the site in the first place.

An actual listing - Why the reversion back to Matador? Warp is effectively a major label these days and I doubt they would need any assistance with distribution.

Any other suggestions as to what this could potentially be, anyone?
Has me quite stumped in reality.

One last sentiment is that, as MHTRTC is turning 20 next year, a single release using their old distributors could possibly be being done for the sake of a homage to a past era in their music. Maybe we will even see a Skam logo on the new sleeve too, if this is the approach they could theoretically be going for.

There's no harm in keeping on your toes between releases.
The black box turned into Tomorrow's Harvest so what is stopping this unidentified listing turning into The Day After Tomorrow's Harvest?

Spoiler: show
For the record, that is an awful film.

nvm the soundcloud thing. That's probably just due to soundcloud GO dealing with warp.

If you look on the Matador homepage it lists BOC under 'Alumni' which suggests the relationship between them is in the past.

As they only list MHTRTC (i.e. the album that is equally 'owned' by both Warp/Skam), they could be the US distributor for releases that have Skam involvement.

(As an aside, Hi Scores was re-released in November 2006).

Am I correct that WARP own the rights to the pre-Twoism EP material, or does Skam part own all of that too?

It says that the format for the TBA (to be announced) record is a Double LP/ CD. The fact that this was only added recently is a strong indicator that this is potentially the real deal. As it stands, BoC count as Alumni, but that status wouldn't theoretically be changed back until a release was formally announced.

Waiting for an answer to this by someone well informed on the subject, I am curious to know.

BoC don't seem like the kinds of people that would be naive enough to get themselves into a situation where everything they have ever created, even as children, is owned by their label though.

I would speculate that Pre-Twoism recordings belong to them alone.

If in future they release any older material through Warp, it would be joint copyright, but I think until they express an interest in creating a formal release of something, it belongs to them.

I'm still really not sure what to think about with Matador...probably nothing, but maybe it's more fuckery on the part of BoC. 11/30/-1, ignoring the dash is 42 (11 + 30 + 1) - I ONLY bring this up because on 21/4 (21x4) it appears that BoC created and quickly deleted a new playlist consisting of all the Geogaddi tracks - a couple people on FB posted that they received notifications that the official Soundcloud account had been updated that day. It seems like they are actively trolling us in new and different corners of the internet.

Here's all the 84s so far:

28/3 - (28x3) Dayvan Cowboy Video (Twitter)
3/4 - Video 146 (14x6) added (Youtube)
21/4 - (21x4) Soundcloud Geogaddi playlist created and quickly deleted

Remember, 84 is "Ready Lets Go" on the official playlist.

I emailed matadorrecords about the weird listing.

I'll report back as soon as they answer. If they do of course. :)

PS: I don't want to see this thread derail again, especially not with personal attacks. Consider this a warning. I'm also going to discuss this matter with the other mods/admins. I'm thinking of deleting all those political posts. This thread is one of the most active ones, and I feel it's really sad what happened in here.

Already emailed Matador, sorry for getting in here late. Here's what the guy said:
We had planned to release the album that eventually became Geogaddi. However our license from Warp expired, they set up a US office and released it on their own. A catalogue number and release date had been assigned, and the page memorializes that.
The soundcloud thing is probably nothing too. I remember a similar thing happening with Radiohead a while back. If anything, it's probably a bunch of tracks from their back catalogue.

hehe, according to soundcloud, those geogaddi tracks were released 10 years ago in 2007.

I'm trying to figure that out too. My Plex server also wants to flag Geogaddi as being from 2007 too.

That's an interesting explanation from Matador, but why did it show up now? Very strange.

Soundcloud is interesting because it claims to have 69 tracks, but if you add up what's present in the albums section, its 51 tracks. Throw all of TH in the pile (all 17 tracks are in the tracks section, but TH isn't in the albums) plus the 2 tracks from Pretty Swell Explode means its actually 70? That means there's one track that's present in the albums section but not in the tracks section.

The missing track from the tracks section is track 21 from Geogaddi, You Could Feel the Sky

Latest info -

21:

June 15th (15+6) (YouTube playlist entry numbers/Macquarie Ridge tweet - Norway/CET timestamp)
Geogaddi Track 21 missing from Tracks section (Soundcloud)

42:

Matador placeholder date (11/30/-1) = 42

84:

Dayvan Cowboy Tweet (28/3)
Video Playlist Entry 146 (14x6) added (added 4/3)
Soundcloud Geogaddi playlist created and deleted (added 21/4)

If we look at when Warp released MHTRTC vs the US Matador release, its a difference of 5 months and 2 days (20/4 vs 22/9). Roll back 30/11 in a similar way and we have 28/6. It's not 15/6 but its another iteration of 84 (168 if we multiply) - so in a way, it works as either 42 or 168.
