Take my money, Magic Window
Fredd-E's post made me giggle until I looked on iTunes and saw that people have actually bought Magic Window as a standalone track. In fact, it's moreso purchased than Energy Warning, Driving Station, Opening the Mouth, and A is to B as B is to C.

Sometimes I would pay money for 1:46 of silence.
Re: Take my money, Magic Window
I always thought the popularity meter was a measure of how many people have listened to the track, without necessarily buying it individually, otherwise the data can only be from people who have purchased individual tracks. If you like a particular Boards of Canada track enough to not want to go to YouTube every time, chances are you would also like to buy the other tracks in the album.
Re: Take my money, Magic Window
It's definitely not popular by listen, because the iTunes store just takes into account sales.
Also...one of the quotes in this thread is definitely being added to my signature.

Re: Take my money, Magic Window
I wonder if anybody here has the very obscure promo vinyl containing the nuclear family etched in side F of Geogaddi. Apparently, there is nothing in side E. Has anybody seen it?
Re: Take my money, Magic Window
I went on iTunes and bought Magic Window just for this. To be an actual true fan.
Only children know what they are looking for.
Re: Take my money, Magic Window
got it together with other Geogaddi tracks when was ordering CD years ago,
no need in spending money just to get it, better buy whole album

Re: Take my money, Magic Window
Yeah, I too have technically bought Magic Window.
But that's because I bought the whole of Geogaddi at once.

Welcome, my friend. These are my people; now they are your people too.
Re: Take my money, Magic Window
People maybe think their silent track on CD or torrented or whatever has a corrupted track and are trying to buy the proper version?
preparation for a dive.

So in Geogaddi vinyl, on Magic Window's side it says 162.225 MHz where the speed of the record should be. I googled it and read that it was a frequency to broadcast the weather in some areas. Irrelevant but I don't remember reading that elsewhere.

Re: Take my money, Magic Window
im guessing alot of people bought it because it's the easiest song in the world to remix, along with John Cage's 4'33"

Re: Take my money, Magic Window
I remember reading from this old website <http://lunarsight.com/glossary.htm> on brainwave frequencies not too long after Geogaddi came out. It happens to mentioned a Magic Window frequency.
Here's the listing as it defines it:
"Magic Window - Frequencies which (according to Thomas E. Bearden) are especially suited for coupling to and bringing energies from other dimensions. [EX via MM] Another source seems to imply such frequencies could be used to communicate from one dimension to another. (As you can see - this is kind of venturing into the realm of new-agey pseudo-science, but I wouldn't rule it out for that reason alone - much of what we take for granted today in science was seen as pseudo-scientific at one point.)
The range of frequencies that most of these magic windows fall under are well above human hearing - more than likely, they are intended to be 'accessed' using electromagnetic means (a device that creates an EM field). Although, if you're up for a challenge, you could try lowering the octave of these frequencies (i.e. dividing the number by two) until you reach a point where you're in the range of audible sound, and then try plugging that frequency into a sound generator."
The site listed the Hz frequency for Magic Window on this page <http://lunarsight.com/freq.htm> as well:
"23,000 up - Hypersonic Sounds [above human hearing]
38000 - 40000 HZ - Magic Window"
KHZ, MHZ, GHZ, and PHZ are also listed.
Do you all think BoC tried generating this frequency for Magic Window?

It would explain the silence of the entire track.AQfumes wrote:I remember reading from this old website <http://lunarsight.com/glossary.htm> on brainwave frequencies not too long after Geogaddi came out. It happens to mentioned a Magic Window frequency.

Boc just loves myths and this would be no exception.
Maybe if the Hz is lowered then it would reveal a hidden track no one has ever herd before. But I don't think that's how Hz frequency works.
this thread is full of shenanigans.
