I admire musicians who are still able to evaluate their earlier works as something that fans will potentially enjoy. It's too easy to have your judgment clouded by how much you feel you've improved over that time. In some cases with some musicians/bands, even when they haven't drastically changed their musical style, I prefer the early stuff. Sometimes it's because of the lack of needing to please existing fans by doing things a certain way, or the inexperience with their chosen creative techniques yielding something more interesting and less polished than when they know every possible process back to front.zeoevil wrote:He's taking the piss. But he is right. We will probably never hear any of the old tunes beyond what we already have. Posthumously, maybe, but not likely. I just feel like maybe they think they suck too much. By way of comparison, I've been playing Dungeons and Dragons for almost three decades. When I look back at old campaigns I used to run, I find them down right embarrassing. Full of overused tropes and railroading. My ability to write a good story and engage my players has grown by leaps and bounds. I suspect they feel the same.Emmet@lego wrote:Seriously. Why?

I think the clear winner would be a DVD biography, with cds of their early music.mr3 wrote:In my dream they wait until they've got the time, then they get help clearing copyright and release everything in its original states along with select art, photography, and video from that period. The ultimate artistic time capsule. I can while the time away until then in e-masochism listening to people say how much they don't like the material.
Now think of this. A biography of their early life to today. But its a biography/music video in a way. Playing their early stuff while showing early pictures and videos and having them talk about things as they happend. While they talk, the current song being played is drawn out and turned down and just kinda mix the songs together as they go. Maybe they have video's of them producing tracks? That would be awesome to have them mix in the audio while they are producing to kinda bring the background music to a "live" type of music. If that makes sense. Anyways, as they go through the years and diff albums they start playn those songs. Do this until you get to today, and we could hear some sneak peaks of what is to come on the next album. Or what the sound will kind of be anyways.
To me this would be the perfect BoC release of old tunes, maybe just a release of all their current and past albums/tracks. Charge like 100 bucks. Hell i think we would all pay. Anyways that would be awesome to me. Id love to see their studio and get a feel for them from hearing what they were thinking back then and now today.
