Red Moss: Is it just me or is the melody on this used elsewhere, like on one of the old tunes tapes? I mean, theone that starts at 1:10 or something.
Nlogax: exact same question. The melody that starts at... about 3 minutes. I definitely have heard this elsewhere too. I can't work out where.

If that were the case I can almost guarantee that someone would've noticed it by now. A lot more obscure references have already been picked out.

It's bugging me though. I don't remember listening to the tracks before but I instantly thought "I know that.."

it's psychedelics. done intentionally. listen to 'kid for today' and then 'olson (version 3)' although in a different key, the construction is almost identical.
