Listen to the music and reinterpret what you hear into something of you're own. You don't need them to create something inspired by them.

I think each musical journey is something built up as an individual. Observing and listening to profoundly brilliant music tends to trigger a "How on earth does one achieve that sound" sentiment mentally and with that, people tend to become incredibly creative in finding their own ways of getting there.

Mdg pretty much only shows up to tell us something is NOT boc these days. Usually only something we cant figure out ourselves, and after letting us dangle for a little bit.

He can still be quietly watching over our hilarious antics without signing in.

Sometimes I’m kinda jealous of people whose favorite bands, like, release music and interact with them and stuff. But I do appreciate that they share and catalog fan made videos, and (at least the one time) created an ARG to announce an album. It’s little things like that that make me think they might care about us a little.

The Mystique really adds to the music contextually.

I am pretty grateful for it in reality. That said, people tend to fill in information when they are deprived of it so cue the "They're satanists etc" shit eternally.

TheStatPow wrote:Why won't you teach us anything? I mean clearly you are the master when it comes to music composition, mixing and stuff, you are so passionate about what you do one would believe.

If you are so passionate about music and if you really do love your fanbase, why is it that we don't learn anything from you?
Please don't take this the wrong way, but it sounds to me like you may want to try looking at this from another perspective.

If you want them to teach you, nobody is stopping you. It doesn't take a direct line of communication with BoC to do that.
TheStatPow wrote:I guess one would say "well with all the material they've put out, maybe just observe and learn?" Its not that easy.

What makes you say this? Sometimes you have to take the clock apart to see how it ticks, even if that means taking out a lot of screws.
TheStatPow wrote:I mean sure it is a gift that you give us with your music and I have mad respect that you do that but I still really question the motive behind some of your stuff, yes you do stay secretive and barely communicate with us to maybe keep the atmosphere I guess? or the misterious feel that all of this have?
How much time does it take to reply to hundreds of messages every day? How much time is required to create anything at a masterful level of quality?

You act like they don't owe us something. I'm pretty sure their albums didn't sell themselves to themselves.

Correct. And you paid for those albums. It's a transactional relationship.

So that's it? You pay for the thing and leave? No rewards for sticking with them all these years? This relentless patience we all seem to have? Even McDonalds rewards loyalty more then this.

They make the art, they make the rules. I'm being slightly facetious as I'm always amazed that after all this time people still apparently don't seem to get it. It's been clear for years, this is how they choose to play it. They aren't a normal band. Still, each to their own.

Perversely, I'd love for them to one day become a 'normal' band, tour, shit out records every two years and be interviewed on MTV just to hear the moaning about how they 'used to be special'. Sorry, feeling sore and tired. Not got the patience today I guess.

If we lived in a world where all we heard from musicians was the music, I'd agree. But we haven't in my lifetime, and I think it's just think it's a shame that - OK, not everyone in entertainment needs to be the Kardashians, but it's weird that I know more about what Chris Martin thinks about geopolitics than BoC, what Stephen Fry thinks about freedom of speech than BoC and so on. Because I *bet* their take on it is more thoughtful and interesting. And I mean, if it's not and I'm wrong, and that's why they're not saying anything, then fair enough. Or if they just want the music to speak for itself that's also fine. I just get the sense that while with someone like Autechre, not to shit on them particularly but their political contribution of putting out Anti EP and then going back to being the HowToBasic of synth programming that's fair enough, but surely BoC have more to say than "One Very Important Thought"? My perception may be way off but I feel like with them, more than others, we're missing out on something worth listening to.
