The brothers leaking the tapes?
Then why do the rips only come in low bit rate mp3?
It's not low bit rate, it's just low quality from the worn-out tapes. Even if the rips were WAVs they'd sound the same. The releases that never made it onto CD might not be available in any better quality than we currently have.
Maybe a better deck of some sorts would work.
A bit of bass kinda peaks in some of the r35 tracks.
Example track 18 B side.

That's true, there is some low frequency distortion. Especially with the Boc Maxima tape. Now that a CD copy has surfaced it would be great to get a digital rip.

Wait how long do you think it will take before the cd version is leaked?
The tracks have long been leaked for years, someone tell the guy who found is cd version on dicogs to leak them or to rip them to flac or something. I can see retaliation but again the tracks had already been leaked so there really is no reason to not leak the digital copy unless mdg or somebody from hex sun says other wise.

Is he still online?

The CD version might as well be a pretty decent fake and only feature the already known and heard tape version of the album.

The only other proof of a cd press is a listing of formats on the old boc site.

My thoughts exactly. No harm in hearing it as it was meant to sound, particularly as there's no other way of obtaining it.

I don't think there's any doubt about its legitimacy. The same user also had a CDr of the original Twoism and a previously unknown compilation of remixes. (Which would also be nice to have, although that is of course up to the owner's discretion.)

I've had the same conspiracy theory that BoC might have leaked R35TT before. After all, it's such a large amount of pre-Twoism material that hasn't surfaced anywhere else. And the fact that no track titles were included with the download is odd - kind of gives the impression that whoever uploaded the files was trying to increase the mystique of the release. That could fit with BoC's public relations strategy of purposely remaining mysterious to drive interest.

But what ultimately dissuaded me from that theory is that MDG straight-up denied that he or BoC knew where it came from. I feel like if they had actually leaked it, he just would have avoided commenting on it rather than a direct statement.

I think the compilation was created by someone very close to the band with access to most or all of the old releases, and they avoided including the titles as a compromise between doing the fans a favor and staying loyal to the band. Some have also suggested they altered track lengths to further disguise which song was which, but given that the mp3s seem like a direct cassette rip (there's the tape hiss, as well as crossfade between songs and everything) I doubt that.

The R35T may have been partial rips from other past albums C AM CV1 PBN and HB. Then assembled as one huge collection put on MC to be given out by MUSIC70 as some sort of anniversary or some sort celebration for getting a deal with SKAM.

It could also just be that side a is not one side of the track but a separate MC entirely and vise versa which may explain the BOC one and two photos.

All just very far speculation.

My understanding is that it was a compilation of tracks from various unreleased tapes (some of which we are aware of) as a sort of demo mix. I don't believe track names were supplied when the tapes were handed around. As for the track lengths, most of them are slightly cut since they fade out and into the next track instead of properly ending. You can hear that the tracks do continue even while they fade away (for example, listen to Davie Addison on the R35TT and then in its longer form on AFOT.)

Could R35TT just simply be CANCAS002?

R35TT isn't a official release by BOC, it's surely a friends who did a compilation of old stuff. So isn't CANCAS002.
