The Fila Brazillia Thread
I couldn't find a thread about these guys on here so I thought why not make one. Has anyone here ever heard of this guys or gave them a listen before? I gave their discography a try in May, and instantly fell in love with their songs. Their first album, Old Codes New Chaos is alright but I think their albums get better later on starting with Maim That Tune, Mess (my favorite album by them), Black Market Gardening, Power Clown, etc).
Their last couple albums are decent but not as good as their work in the 90's. Sadly they disbanded in 2006 but recently Steve Cobby (one of the people behind Fila Brazillia) announced a live album they did in Japan in 2000 is coming soon. I can't wait
Their style is mainly downtempo and breakbeat with a mix of nu jazz. Curious to see if anyone else knows about them lol

Big fan of Fila Brazillia, saw them live a couple of times many years ago. First time was at Band on the Wall in Manchester, they were doing a DJ set playing a live mix of their own tunes and remix work with lots of unreleased stuff. The second time was at the Arches in Glasgow as a live band. Both times were fantastic. Check out this recent mix:

I'm a sucker for stuff like this. Love myself some downtempo/nu jazz/lounge kinda stuff. It's the first type of music that got me outside of pop, and it's what brought me on to The Campfire Headphase.

Re: The Fila Brazillia Thread
I couldn't find a topic that discusses hearing music from rather obscure artists at places, so I'll say it here since I forgot to mention this:
Back in August, I was at Outback Steakhouse for the first time. The food was decent, but I heard the song "It's a Knockout" from Fila Brazillia's album, Jump Leads and I was utterly shocked that a well known restaurant was playing that. It really did catch me off guard but I'm happy they played that anyway. Thought this duo were too obscure lmao

Re: The Fila Brazillia Thread
First of all thanks a lot for this thread man, these guys surprisingly flew under my radar. I'm slowly discovering their early releases now. Hairy Insiders is such a gentle and funky track! What an incredible sound they have. Maim That Tune is a terrific album. I also find a lot of their track titles really funny! Sounds like these guys have a lot of fun, music and track title wise.PresidentSquidward wrote:Hairy Insides is my favorite song by them... catchy from start to finish
Cheers!

Speaking of which, my first post is a bit inaccurate. I grew to love their 2000's discography a lot. Jump Leads is my second favorite album by them, plus Phoebus Brumal, Dicks and One Track Mind EP are fantastic! Personally my least favorite album of theirs is A Touch of Cloth, still has some good tracks tho!
And yeah their song titles are amazing... especially Lieut. Gingivitis Shit

Re: The Fila Brazillia Thread
Hello I just wanted to let everyone know that the most unexpected thing to happen after years and years of responses of doubt of Fila reviving, HAPPENED LAST MONTH!!!
It's 30 years since they started as a group, and in February they were posting their history on Twitter and had an avatar of a portion of their new EP album artwork but was unaware it was for a new album and while they were posting their history of all the music they've made over the years, I asked if they were hyping anything, which they responded "nah just reminiscing
" which I fell for since I didn't expect them to surprise us with a return in March.
Amazing EP, titled MMXX. Check it out!!
They also just made a 30th anniversary dj mix of 4 hours of their tunes
