No way this is the oldest, its their most brilliant work on the r35tt.

BUT It does feel very harsh which kinda makes me think maybe it was first made under the alias Hell Interface :}

I really wish they did more in this kind of tune, A07 puts me in such a damn trance im just sooooo in it I don't really think of anything else. Theres something different going on at all time in both the stereo channel and its so violent yet smooth at the same time because of all the flangers.

Random 35 track tape is of the same as A few old tune (as in leaked tape) yet is sooooo different, you can see they had a motive with AFOT1 and 2 some kind of story to go along with it .. a theme of some sort. yet in r35tt I can't grasp what theme there is but it does feel there is one, feels desolate and in the middle of the woods at night, very mysterious, AFOT wasn't mysterious to me, just very beautiful and weird but it made sense.

Im 100% sure the answer to your question resides in R35TT but idk which one.

This is because R35TT was not an official album release by the band, but rather "a mixture" possibly made by a fan (as stated by mdg) so that's why R35 doesn't feel like it has a coherent theme and I don't necessarily believe everything on it is the work of BoC.

I think Alpha Rainbow is probably the oldest, its very simple, low quality, you can hear distortion from whatever cheap thing it was recorded on, and it only uses one synth.

Nine-Rubber Wisdom sounds really low quality, could it be one of the older old tunes(lol)?

One of their tracks that's unmistakably done on the SH 101. Also one of my favourites.

Nah, all of the stuff on R35TT is so unmistakably BOC

I'm very strongly believing that A04 is the earliest track of their's we've heard.

IIRC, they mentioned that when they were kids they used to get together with family and friends where each person would bring different and sometimes very strange instruments to play with so they could have fun, improvised jam sessions. I think this is a recording of one of those sessions. I also think the kid's voices are that of Mike and Marcus.

My best guess.

I think there are several pieces of evidence strongly suggesting it's all authentic BoC. For one, videos of some of the songs only found on R35TT have been added to the official BoC Youtube channel Videos playlist. MDG also stated (albeit somewhat indirectly) that it was the work of BoC.

The fact that at least SOME of the tracks are confirmed legit BoC tracks means that whoever assembled the tape had access to unreleased BoC material, and the files seem to have been taken directly from a tape compilation, of which we know many were handed out to friends/family by the band early in their history. So it's either a compilation made by the band themselves, or by someone who had access to unreleased material - either way it seems really unlikely they'd mix unknown tracks by other artists in.

Nine-Rubber Wisdom is in the "taking a bad song and knackering it for a laugh" vein as Hell Interface but even done as a laugh it's too well done to be that early.

A07 sounds like it could be from one of their early iterations but it's kind of tapping into that Tomorrow Never Knows thing and it's not easy to do, so I doubt it's the earliest.

A04 though... if that's not a *really* old recording I don't know what it is

It can be difficult to tell by things by production quality alone. Remember that when experimenting with methods you can have hits followed by misses. Things that sound better could absolutely come before things that sounded worse, but still good enough to keep. With that said, we know that they were experimenting a lot with methods during this time. It is still a safer bet, but by no means a solid way to determine the age of the song. Especially considering that they were experimenting with ways to age sound too. They may be the most difficult band to assign age to tune with because of this.

A04 aside, something like Mushyz or the rudimentary cover of Hey Sanna Hosanna get my vote

I'm thinking Sir Prancelot Brainfire. The official bio on Matador's old website said that BoC's earliest work involved children's TV show themes with horrific reversed vocals. Sir Prancelot Brainfire is just the theme from cartoon "The Adventures of Sir Prancelot" with some synths and a porn sample added.

I could definitely see this. How old do you think the brothers were when they made this?

If A04 was made when the Sandison brothers were 13 years old, why is A04 in the R35TT? I mean, if A04 is really old then it's weird that a friend puts it on a tape with songs that are close to BOC that we know.. And it's weird that BOC show very old song that not correspond with BOC song. In AFOT and OTV2 there aren't this kind of music....
