No one knows anything at this point! But I refuse to be a pessimist. Yes, Societas X could mean just a mix tape of other music but that would be a ridiculous effort after 6 yrs of silence. Let's think positively, like for instance Societas X meaning a collection of Hexagon Sun era recordings...

Regardless of what comes of this, it is a pulse and an indication of future work.
If this does just turn out to be a mixtape curated by BoC, we can expect that this is a prelude to a real release of some description.

No matter what comes out of this, I'm all for it. Albeit, I'll be a bit disappointed if it's just a mix of random music by other artists.

In fairness Squarepusher was labelled as a DJ set, and it turned out he was playing all original material, so there's that level of optimism I can keep.

i 100% doubt this... why is everyone still being so pessimistic... gurantee we will be blown away

I'm still hyped and one could speculate on this for years to come. Fortunately there are only six hours left. Just the fact that we are hearing something from them makes me happy and optimistic for the future.

This will inevitably be a mix of old (including unheard) and new material alongside favorite tracks by other artists. I still don't buy the idea that it's the starting pistol for a new album. Whatever occurs it'll be a mighty fine two hours and my ears are ready and waiting to receive transmission.

I wonder if there will be commentary, how are we going to know what's theirs or someone elses

I have a funny feeling that it will be presented as if it were a mix of other artists they like; however we won't recognise anything and will never be able to track down any of it.

A mix of 'lost music' that is secretly all BoC. Similar to that list of recommended releases they made in some magazine that was all made up or obscure references to Hexagon Sun stuff.

I can see this happening. After all, these are the guys who displayed a Red Moon with a hidden code on their public website only for no one to figure out what it was or when it happened and never mentioned a word of it afterwards.

I don’t think it’s pessimism. Just the boys haven’t dropped any new material outside of a few random remixes, in over 6 years. So, excuse some of us for not getting too overly excited. While anything is better than nothing, as far as new material is concerned, I’m in the “I’ll believe it when I hear it” camp.

Tbh, wouldn't it be hard to have a tape of selected music that BoC likes? Having to fetch all copyright and contacting all the labels to have it play on the radio under the name of a BoC project.

Specially knowing the fact they listen to obscure stuff that only has 1000 Views at most on youtube (According to the music that mike said He liked on his postcard)

I cannot believe this is happening while I am on vacation with my parents in law. Bad timing, BoC, bad timing.

"Societas" can also be connected to the idea of secret societies (Bilderberg group, inter alia), and themes such as occultism, masonism, etc. A title that is very Geoggaddyesque.

Or the Branch Davidian religious cult (ie. IABPOITC).
I remember witnessing the last great cataclysm.
