Peacock tail is great. I am not a fan of Hey Saturday Sun, only because the bass line is cheesed. Farewell Fire is a good one too! I used to skip this one but now I love it. I can't get into Dayvan Cowboy anymore at all, it's a skip for me, but all the other tracks on the album are really good. I took The Campfire Headphase with me when I went up to the country a month ago and played the whole album on the hill side by a fire with my friends and it just seemed to fit, all of the songs, like being in my room or my car driving listening to the album was nothing compared to being out in the open being with people listening to these tracks. I don't know, maybe it's just me, or maybe it's certain surroundings.

I know what you mean Polar, I can't even listen to Dayvan Coyboy anymore. Not to sound like a dick, but the video and all the hype around this track has ruined it for me.

I agree. The song lost its magic...its spark. Its not special anymore...

I never thought much of Dayvan Cowboy in the first place. From the first moment I heard it, the progression of the strings in combination with that guitar reminded me too much of the atmosphere of Oasis' Be Here Now Album. I think of Oasis whenever I hear that song.

to me, dayvan cowboy is just a single, a track that any casual listener can hear and like, so it's in no way one of their best tracks.

Well just cause a song is a single doesn't mean it's just a single. I mean Aquarius/Chinook, Telephasic Workshop/Roygbiv, Alpha And Omega/Beware The Friendly Stranger were all singles and I love all of those songs. So to me, I think Dayvan Cowboy was just an over produced track with way too much hype. I liked it when I heard it, but now it's blan. I can and have listened to the above singles I mentioned over and over, they are just really, really great songs! IMO.

yeah, what i mean is that any casual listener would enjoy that track... most casual listeners wouldn't take too well to a lot of those songs.

I live in an island in the Atlantic and you can't buy BOC records here unless you order them online. I never saw the Dayvan Cowboy video on TV (maybe because I don't watch it anyway) and pretty much nobody knows BOC here. Maybe that's why Dayvan Cowboy still sounds good to me.
The only hype around that track that I hear about is on this forum.
And by the way, Peacock Tail, Dayvan Cowboy and Slow This Bird Down are my favorite from The Headfire Nutcase.

oh, i've still never seen the video on tv, and i doubt i will. canada's music channel
"muchmusic" is one of the worst in the world for showing the same 50 videos everyday and never showing anything remotely obscure. except during the segment "the wedge", but they ussually just play really bad canadian indie-rock bands.

The sad thing is.. MuchMusic is the best music channel I (we?) get in the states.

Though I've really started liking "VH1 Classic". Lot of good shows on there.

I feel so completely lost when I turn on the TV wanting to see some music vids and combining MTV, MTV2, VH1, VH1C, Fuse (MuchMusic?), I'm lucky to get maybe one music video every 6 hours. And that's usually an extremely shitty video from an extremely shitty band who has put out a god-awful shitty album.

Oh.. there's also LOGO (the gay/lesbian channel) that does have a a good music video show on, just don't remember when.

I really miss "120 Minutes"

I can still enjoy Dayvan, as long as it's in the right context. I have to be separated from not only the media-driven universe, but also teh internets. In other words, I can still enjoy Dayvan as long as I'm outside the house.

P.S. I too miss 120 Minutes. So many Sunday nights back in the day....

I've always loved the drums in Slow This Bird Down. It sounds like they just made a really lo fi recording of one of them jamming on a set and just chopped it up. It's cool.

i just love slow this bird down because it's indeed a very stretched out slooooooow track.. i love those kind of tracks.. just like Christ. his 'marsh of epidemics' -- another slooooooow stretched out track...
