"Body Double" - We watched that for the first time last night. My brother was a big fan of it growing up.. at least now I know why I was such a huge fan of "Frankie Goes to Hollywood" and he, a huge fan of Melanie Griffith (ooh gross!).

Ok film. Full of De Palma cliches. I'm sure it was much better in the 80's.

Right after that when we turned on HDNET they were playing "Wargames". OMG, best movie ever. They just don't make them like that anymore (shakes angry old man fist in the general direction of Hollywood).

as far as movies that have "struck" me recently, i'd say the fight scene in Borat was rather striking.

I watched Spirited Away again. It strucked me as much as last time...the train-ride scene is so friggin PERFECT!

I'll have to see Spirited Away again, the first time my mind was a little preoccupied. I tried to watch 8 1/2 last night but my next door neighbor was watching James Bond.. very loud.. and it kind of ruined the moment. I'll try again later

And of course I am looking forward to seeing Borat!

oh yeah, and I watched The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly the other night and I loved it! Not to mention that Clint Eastwood is such a stud!

One of the absolute best films ever. I had the honor of seeing it up on a mammoth screen (un-restored print however) about ten years ago and I'll never ever forget it.

Hard Candy_David Slade. [2006]

An intense psychological drama, with incredible performances by both Ellen Page and Patrick Wilson. The two actors are practically the only two people with lines in the film, aside from some brief appearances by Sandra Oh and Jennifer Holmes. Thusfar I have only seen Wilson in The Alamo, Phantom of the Opera and Angels In America, but I was blown away with how he handled this performance. The slow, suspenseful film is set mainly in the Los Angeles home of photographer Jeff, a 32 year old man whom Hayley, a mature 14 year old girl who met him online, suspects to be a pedophile. The pacing was steady, and phenomenal - after a brief exposition we get into the real suspense about 20 minutes into the film, and it doesn't let up from there. The cinematography and camera work went excellently with the film. Rather than being extremely gory, the adult themes of the film lead to a more psychological creepiness.

There are also questions that remain unanswered until the end of the film, when everything is wrapped up nicely - leaving you puzzled to the true identities and motives of the characters throughout most of the duration. One of the best movies i've seen for a while on dvd. You can hear also "Freak" from LFO and at the end "Elephant Woman" from Blonde Redhead.

i havent had time to read through all these posts cause im in a rush, so accept my apologies if this has been said already (cause i bet it has!) but 'dead mans shoes' - saw it for the first time last week and it made me cry my eyes out... i havent cried at a film for years. i really think this is one of the best films ive ever seen, plus the directors from my home town and it was all fimed really close to me! this film seriously blew me away.

Cheers for the tip. I've got "The Good, The Bad..." soundtrack - "The Ecstacy of Gold" gets me every time.

That part at the end where the brass and bells come in is one of the best moments in any soundtrack from any movie, EVER.

Good call on The Good the Bad and the Ugly...amazing flick.
Gonna throw a few names out, don't think they've been mentioned....
-The Last House on the Left-Wes Craven's debut film, pretty cheesy but disturbing as well...the ending is amazing.
-Thumbsucker-I loved this film...the story was beautiful.
-Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me-I really liked this, but I hear fans of the show don't..still a great Lynch film IMO.
-Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas-What can't be said about this movie. It never gets old to me, I notice new things every time I watch it. Terry Gilliam is great...check out "Brazil" too.
-High Fidelity-One of my favourites...great adaptation of the novel.
