I finally found Catalog 3
It’s been hiding in Cisco’s customer service all these years. They thought we’d never look there.

HAhaha
When I worked in sales there was this one customer who had this as their hold music. During a really stressful day being on hold when I had a multitude of things to do was usually a nightmare. But with this customer. I sat back, put my feet up and shut my eyes.

Yes!!! There have been a few customer service hold music from various companies that I wish I could have sampled or found out who wrote them. Maybe we should also look for the older releases on underground porno flicks haha
One time my dad brought a box of blank tapes that he found on the side of the road and they were all really cheesy porno tapes from the 80’s and 90’s but some of the music was amazing haha I remember this one song that sounded a lot like Peacock Tail merged with Rue The Whirl and it blew me away... although the white trash actors getting it on made it a little awkward haha

Yet for everyone else it would probably be the fact that dad brought home a load of porno tapes that would be the awkward part
Re: I finally found Catalog 3
Lol I never watched porno with my family. Like I said, they all looked blank with no labels and he popped one in and thats what it was haha. He threw the box in the garage and my friends and I grabbed a bunch of them but they were all old and I was only ever interested in the music on them which was a combination of funk and electronic music.

This made my day

Haha! The look on my mom’s face was priceless.. my dad is a junk collector/antique dealer so sometimes he would bring home all sorts of weird things. The weirdest was a box of creepy ceramic doll heads....

I listened to this on loop at work yesterday. Brought back some memories; like some sort of neo-capitalist fever dream.

Oh man! I love stuff like this.
Are you guys familiar with Broken Machine Films Presents? His albums are chock full of stuff like this. Recordings of things you might hear on the menu for a satellite dish service, while on hold, or on the Prevue Channel (bonus points if you know what I am talking about there!)
Here is one of my favorites...

Yea, love his stuff. To me, vaporwave hits such similar notes (pardon the pun) to how the bros were influenced by various things like 70s sci-fi film scores, nature documentaries, etc. Corporate/elevator/call center muzak, 'mood music', Saturday morning cartoons, birth of the internet, the best years of the Weather Channel, etc.mechanismj wrote:Oh man!
