Searching for a song // New age spiritual influence on BOC

Post by mkez »

Societas X Tape gave us BOC fans a whole new universe to explore, and Ever since I heard it back in 2019 I have been fascinated by the obscure music that has influenced the brothers over the years. What struck me the most were the spiritual / new age songs like "Dance With us Lord" and "Angel Child".

I think this influence of spiritual music can be traced back to their early releases. For the past few days I have been trying to find a specific song that I saw linked from YouTube in a thread here on Twoism. If I remember correctly, it was a hinduist or generally Indian song, but in English (and no, the singer didn't have an accent). Now the reason why it was posted here were it's lyrics: "Wouldn't you like to be free?".

I haven't been able to track this song down so I am asking for help to find it. The only details I can remember are the ones mentioned above + the YT video had a vinyl album cover. Thanks in advance!

The song in question is this one:

Also interesting was a comment someone wrote about it who seemed to know a lot about the band: the new album [Geogaddi] is slowly being completed - it will have sitar and is more what BOC are about. Probably sound similar to "Golden Avatar" or at least somewhere in thre region.

It's interesting back in the 2000s and such, there were a few people who seemed to know the band and talk about them freely. By the 2010s and 2020s they've all since disappeared. I think we know what BOC did with all the money from Tomorrow's Harvest- Gag orders!
Warning: This numerology post is not to be taken 2 seriously.

No problem. I was fascinated when this was discovered. Both by the music itself and the way Golden Avatar was compared to Geogaddi.

Again, np! Also I think if you're checking out further influences on BOC, I highly recommend the Hardcore Devo volumes. It's basically Devo's "Old Tunes," made back when they were underground without any interest in making it commercial. Some very out there stuff and a far cry from Whip It.

I can guarantee you that they love these underground tapes and I'm sure it's half the reason they mention the band in interviews.

I have been listening to Devo for a while now, I'll make sure to check the hardcore volumes at some point. Old underground productions are always interesting.

My recommendation from them: Booji Boy's Funeral. A very melodic droning synth track. Totally hear the BOC in it along with an epic vibe
