The Incredible String Band
I'm not quite sure if this is worth a thread, but at this point we may as well. . . .
I've been listening a lot to one of my favorite albums of ever, The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter, and I noticed a peculiar line in one of the songs. Have a listen yourself :
Given that Boreds have sampled this band before, and that they have demonstrated much infatuation with the sixties, this seems like a pretty interesting connection. Perhaps I'm just a crazyman lately. I've been losing my entire mind in the winds on my balcony's rubber tire in the summer sun these evenings. I don't even remember the last time I've listened to Boards of Canada.
Anyway, I think this song is incredible and I hope this tiny connection gets some folks to experience what I do when I listen to it. It's one of the only albums that I sing along to from beginning to end.
I'm drunk

Going to be honest in writing I'm uncertain which line's spanking you on the brain, though I just want to write that I got deep into The Incredible String Band over the past year (because I was looking into bands that inspired BoC, actually).
Very quickly, The 5000 Spirits and Wee Tam became two of my all-time favorite albums. Hangman's Beautiful Daughter is wonderful as well. But the former two just kill me. Wee Tam, in my opinion, is a catastrophically underrated album.

The line is in the chorus, it goes "like an eagle in the sky"
I actually got into this album not because it inspired BoC but because it inspired Current 93. I only found out later that BoC were also into this band. Now I like it a lot more than both BoC and Current 93.

Actually, this is probably a stretch. For some reason I remembered the BoC track to be called "Like an Eagle in your Mind" and imagined that being sung inside the song I linked.
Re: The Incredible String Band
I can definitely hear melodic inspiration for BOC's synths in the flutes on Hangman's Beautiful Daughter. Probably played by a guy really tripping on acid too.
Warning: This numerology post is not to be taken 2 seriously.

I've been really freaked out by LSD lately. If you're going to trip, I recommend doing psilocybin instead. It's much healthier and it wasn't invented by the government to create slave assassins.

Always wanted to try them but never found a hookup
Re: The Incredible String Band
It's soon shroom season so possible to find some. It was late last year and some popped out in Jan too due to the warm wet spells.
I'd say Shrooms and LSD are similar but also very different, like the analogue to the digital, ha. That analogy can work in some ways but LSD does definitely feel more analogue too.
I have been microdosing once a week for well over a year now and it really does have it's benefits but it does depend on what you want or think you'll get out of it. I can't say i'd recommend a full experience to everyone because some people think too critically to let themselves enjoy or benefit from it and it can take them to places they won't want to go, but these places can be places of self learning too, if you wish to go.
Also, just simply listening to music you know well in these states is really interesting. Sounds you never usually take notice of can come to the fore and some can sound outside of the music realm and enter the real space around you.
