Dawn Chorus sample
Hello... finally registered to post this here. I was listening to Dawn Chorus earlier and noticed a pretty faint sample playing at around 1:30-1:33. It's almost completely muffled for most of it, but at the end I can swear I hear "...frontline." ..Perhaps the same as frontline as FNORD from the newcleardawn (another title containing "dawn") site?
Pardon me if this is common knowledge - I know I can't be the first person to notice this, but I was just surprised that it wasn't on bocpages. I couldn't seem to find a mention of it on here, either (though I didn't look that thoroughly).

Re: Dawn Chorus sample
I definitely hear it, although it could be saying something completely different
"Boards of Canada is a unique project that got a bit out of hand."

At minute 01:37 to 01:40 I hear: "New album, new album, new album".
And then... "YOU MAY BE DEAAAAAAAAAAAD!"
And then... "YOU MAY BE DEAAAAAAAAAAAD!"

Interesting theory. I definitely hear that sample although I somewhat doubt that it's directly related to newcleardawn.com since they were made 11 years apart... The site could possibly be a reference to the song though.
I still wonder about NCD.com though. What was it's true purpose? I hope we'll one day at least know why they made it, even if it was never used.

ncd.com was registered in 2005 and apparently hosted the same image it did during TH (as well as today) since not long after thatBiznasty wrote:Interesting theory. Dawn Chorus just sounds like a cover of this track with a few wobbly synths and children's voices.

Re: Dawn Chorus sample
You do realize music is always in a constant state of rips, samples and covers, right? it's what keeps music and its culture flowing. boards clearly have created an experience with dawn chorus that's separate and unique from "crime stories" and issac hayes' rendition of "by the time i get to phoenix" (will you be mad about one deep sampling this too?) I don't see the issue. There is a difference between plagiarism and sampling yes, but also a difference between inspiration and sampling, and inspiration and ripping.

What an utterly terrible assessment of Dawn Chorus.Sl Flk wrote:Dawn Chorus just sounds like a cover of this track with a few wobbly synths and children's voices.
This track has been floating around BOC circles for years as a possible sample source, it's not a new discovery by any means, and it doesn't sound like a "cover" to me at all.
