I like anonymityt,i'm on a tonne of medication which turns me into a mindless, sleeping zombie(i think you can put it altogether)
Re: What Does Your 'User Name' Mean?
Hey that sounds like me from 2007 to 2015. Heavily overmedicated, sedated zombie. I got the hell away from that and started on natural solutions after a ton of research on what would work for me and my illnesses. So I'm now using treatments without side effects. I'm still transitioning and it's immensely difficult at times, but worth it to me. My medications side effects were getting worse than the problem they were trying to medicate! Screw that! I'm seeing a ton of benefits now, although, again, the transition is bloody hard! The withdrawals after stopping the psychiatric meds alone are basically the equivalent of heroin withdrawals. The drugs can take a while to completely leave your system, too. It's been just over half a year for me and I still am detoxing those meds out. Once they're gone, I have very high hopes for my life. Get a job again, play more hockey, make better music, get married, etc. I would not have any chance of doing those things if I didn't get off those damn meds. Of coarse I did all of this safely, with the help and support of doctors and other health professionals. I continue to have their support today. If this isn't working for you, research your options and talk to your doctor about them. Tell him or her how this is affecting your life. There are other options for many illnesses.Jonathan Doezesoph wrote:I like anonymityt,i'm on a tonne of medication which turns me into a mindless, sleeping zombie(i think you can put it altogether)
I don't want to advertise or anything, but if your interested in discussing what I did and the treatments I went with, send me a PM. If your having a hard time as a zombie, I want to help if I can. Cause I know how much it sucks from a few angles including my own.

Obvious where mine comes from, plus I happen to like math. I see it as beautiful, elegant, profound and mysterious. The area I plan to study in depth is dynamical systems and chaos theory. My avatar shows how the bulbs of the Mandelbrot Set follow the Fibonacci pattern (which mathematicians currently have no explanation for). Btw, if you haven't tried it, zooming in on random boundary points of the Mandelbrot Set might make for a good activity while getting high and/or listening to BoC
But I also chose my name because I'm fascinated by the relation between the quantitative and qualitative realms. You perceive a certain wavelength of light as the color blue. Every time you see that same wavelength, you get the same experience of "blueness" which is not a quantitative thing (aside from the shade of blue or the degree to which it's mixed with other colors). Philosophy majors refer to it as a "qualia". But why that wavelength for blueness and another wavelength for redness? Physics has no explanation for that. The equations governing EM don't predict consciousness/experience, much less tell us how a wavelength should be experienced by a certain configuration of particles (ie a brain). Experience is an unforeseen side effect of the interaction of forces, a side effect which Physics currently has nothing to say about (and probably won't for a long time, if ever). But there is apparently some relation between the numerical/physical realm and the realm of subjective experience. What is it? Is there somehow a number or equation for each experience?

(Also a mathematician student specialized in complex systems - currently into population dynamics
Sorry for my bad english.

I've got two online nicks. This one, Tag, comes from when i moved back to England from Scotland. At the time in the mid 80s there wa a very popular television crime drama called Taggart: I thought i was talking english but everyone thought i sounded scottish so they called me taggart, later shortened to tag.
my other nick is Sticky Fingered Boy, also my soundcloud. This comes from a lyric from my favourite non-electronic band called Stone Roses.
"yeah yeah yeah the candy floss girl
the sticky fingered boy
oh that sister of mine'
that me. Also, I'm a butcher, so if you have any meat related questions, have at it.

Re: What Does Your 'User Name' Mean?
Taggart is an excellent* tv show. Did you know: no episode actually contains the line "there's been a murder"? Furthermore, anytime I carve a roast chicken I just make a giant mess. I've got a sharpening steel and use it to hone the knife before but either I'm not doing that right or I'm trying to go through the wrong joints. Help?

Re: What Does Your 'User Name' Mean?
I like making up my own personal neologisms for things. it just so happens I can do it with anything, So after a few rudimentary musical projects called A Kind Of Painless Skin, Dj Lohphlo (dj low-flow... geddit?) and Silent Snow, I decided to just come up with another one and its been a thing that's inherently me for quite some time now.
Re: What Does Your 'User Name' Mean?
My latest was smallify. Screw you spell check, it's a word because. If language nazis get to use the excuse "it's a living language" to perpetually oscillate on composition/grammar rules then we get to make our own rules. And words. And keep double-spacing.
I was the 3rd MR in our systems lab in school, and when you leave rules to the nerdiest computer nerds we can tend to act like machines. They asked me what I wanted for a login, so I told them my last name. They responded with "ok, you are now mr3". Sure thing, robots. One of my closest buds was sa2. He's still around somewhere. I almost got to meet mr2, but she graduated just before. I've always wondered.

"Funnnn.png" was a name i made up in 2018, around the same time people like "JPEGMAFIA" were blowing up. I wanted a "cool sounding internet name" and I guess it just stuck.

Ripped it off a writer in GamePro magazine who went by "Tokyo Drifter" when I was in high school, except I changed it to "Samurai Drifter" because I was really into Rurouni Kenshin and anime in general.
Re: What Does Your 'User Name' Mean?
I don't know why, but when I see your handle, "High Plains Drifter" by the Beastie Boys automatically starts playing in my head. That's not a bad thing.SamuraiDrifter wrote:Ripped it off a writer in GamePro magazine who went by "Tokyo Drifter" when I was in high school, except I changed it to "Samurai Drifter" because I was really into Rurouni Kenshin and anime in general.
My user name means I'm super lazy when it comes to user names.

My name, Oliver, the Italian side of my family/relatives, and my liking of that specific oil in combination with balsamic vinegar. The 22s? No idea. Does add a nice ring to the name Imo.

Re: What Does Your 'User Name' Mean?
Portiss was my game name when i started gaming on Cod1 back in the days, back then I really liked Portishead a lot, and that's where it basically came from. Never stepped away from it on forums/gaming.
