I mean, many of these were only discovered thanks to Societas X Tape, so I think it was partially their intention in releasing it to pull back the curtain a bit.NorthernPlastics wrote: Woah...I wonder how the brothers would feel about all this new information about the sources of songs and samples being discovered. Let's speculate on certain sounds and samples.

This is exactly the thing they always said in interviews. They rarely sample but recreate the sources, to me all of these sound like this process. Plus any possible legal hassle is avoided.

A woman whispering can be heard in Julie and Candy from about 2:05 to 2:38. Freaked me the fuck out the first time I noticed it, which was a minute ago.
And you can hear faintly a man saying "revolution" during that time too. As far as what the woman is whispering, it might be "ulcer", which would be fitting as the song does sound like it's bleeding or in pain.

I'm sure they're overjoyed. What seems to be unfolding here is a prime example of what Rupert Sheldrake referred to as morphic resonance. He describes it as a sort of collective learning process. Once something is discovered then it becomes easier to discover it again. Or once someone learns something on one part of the globe, another individual in a totally different location can learn the thing too. Loads of folk dismiss it as pseudoscience, but hey? The world is bloody mysterious. It's interesting that Sheldrake also believed that certain principles of physics such as light speed may change speed over time. I think I even heard him referencing it as 'The constants are changing'.
Not wanting to sound like billy big bollocks here, but I also discovered the sample from Aquarius version 3 - 'I'm listening' from Blue Aquarius - At the Feet of the Master. Society x tape definitely sent me down a rabbit hole. They opened a door with that mix. I followed some clues and eventually located it. How it was not discovered sooner is beyond me? It's so obvious.

Here's an interesting pick.
A week ago I uploaded the 4-H advert to youtube and yesterday, user oliveoil22 commented about the website that uploaded the original file, stating that the brothers possibly got their audio from this page. I remember seeing that website being discussed here or something (maybe bocpages) some years ago, but I never really looked at it until yesterday. And look what I saw:

This is the same Reese's commercial sampled in Chromakey Dreamcot.
So to me this is confirmation that they indeed took both audios from this website, meaning that there could be a few more lying around. I did listen to a bunch of them and didn't hear anything, but it was late at night and I was tired so do have a listen yourselves if you want to find something interesting

I would say this is from Summer of 72' most definitely, I will have to look through it one day to find that.Jango9 wrote:
Also, in Dawn Chorus, right before the "But you may be dead" bit, there's another unlisted sample of lips smacking or possibly someone giving a blowjob. BoC have shown in the past that they're perfectly willing to sample porn films (especially in Sixtyniner, P.C., and One Very Important Thought) so it makes a bit of sense, no?

The backwards sweeping sounds in Chinook, when reversed, sound like squeaky rubber soles on a gym floor.

BUT it is not!
It is the barking dog from the many me's and the sound of what I think is a needle scratching a record. Sped up and reversed.

So I have access to a massive TV archive called BoB, I tried searching the "the inspector's been questioning me about Gary" dialogue from the end of Heysanna Hosanna and I managed to find the film it's sampled from, it's "Haunted House of Horror" (1969):
And the same scene has the Iced Cooly Beatnik sample!

First time poster, long time lurker here. I think I've found something substantial.
I was messing around in my home studio, decided to record my Prophet 5 Rev 4. Since I've received it I've been crafting my own patches, but I decided to look into the OG factory patches (511 to 558 according to the manual). These are the patches that shipped with the original prophet 5 in the 70's.
Long story short, I play this one filter sweep patch and notice it sounds familiar. It's the filter sweep from the beginning of "Come To Dust". I just uploaded the audio to my soundcloud below (poorly edited, wanted to post this ASAP
). I was using the Rev 3 filter, this could definitely support that they're using a prophet 5 rev 3 in their studio, or at least sampled one at one point in time.

Thanks! I'm so pumped about this lol. It's not definitive proof though, there's been that rumor floating around for years that they've used a Yamaha AN1X which is based on the prophet 5 (or at least that's what I've heard, never tried one.).NorthSaturnian wrote: That's mad. Re: Let's speculate on certain sounds and samples.
Between their official releases, the Societas X Tape, and the unofficial stuff, a TON of sample material has been popping up lately. For any of you people that have been finding these things, does there appear to be some underlying thread or is it all seemingly random?
Re: Let's speculate on certain sounds and samples.
That sounded spot on for sure. I've been a bit confused with the AN1X rumor myself but with a different track, after hearing Peter Carpenter's awesome Boqurant + 5.9.78 Cover where he used an AN1X. It doesn't really add up if BoC used the AN1X for these tracks because the AN1X came out in 1997 and the Old Tunes supposedly was 1996. So it would make sense that it was a Prophet 5 that they used. I wonder if any of the Boqurant/5.9.78 synths can be duplicated with those factory patches?mattman389 wrote:Thanks! I'm so pumped about this lol. Also on a side note, after all the talk about how some tracks don't make it on an album, how in the hell did Boqurant/5.9.78 not make the cut on any release?
Re: Let's speculate on certain sounds and samples.
I think it's because so many sources are (naturally as time goes on) becoming readily available now combined with COVID-times...nothing else to do but succumb to the Internet Gods.mechanismj wrote:Between their official releases, the Societas X Tape, and the unofficial stuff, a TON of sample material has been popping up lately.
