I had a random thought a little while ago that any unreleased material (such as the mysterious box set) would come out under the Hell Interface alias.
Stylistically, a lot of the older stuff (at least what we've heard) is all over the place, and we know how much they take pride in ensuring the Boards of Canada albums and EPs are musically cohesive and thematically concentrated. Putting it out under HI would give them more freedom to compile this material any way they choose without impacting their legacy.
And for the record, I don't mean to be negative in the slightest. In fact, Old Tunes Vol 1 is probably my favourite thing they've ever done. I'm merely approaching this situation from a branding/marketing angle

Just clarifying: MDG has been logged on and active multiple times throughout 2020 and 2021. It hasn’t been “the first time in years” since MDG last log on - so don’t put much weight on that aspect.
However, from what I can tell - it has been years since MDG has made any type of post. That said, I wouldn’t expect a MDG post to be a blatant catalyst for a new release either.
Just catching up on this... So the HI FB page was made on 8/23/11, but they updated the Pioneer Plaque banner picture just yesterday? It has the date 4/5/21, but what stands out to me is the upload time of 12:25 (EST). 12/25, Christmas Day/Soylent Night?
I’ve been thinking lately about how Soylent Green takes place in the year 2022, which is now right around the corner. This film was released on 4/19/73 (4:19 is the run time for 1969, and of course one digit away from the infamous 420 (release date of MHTRTC, among other notable references))(and 1973 is the year pioneer II was launched and Joni Mitchell’s “Sweet Bird” was released).
About that link: I'm really not an expert on websites so i got some questions. First, why does the link change each time you click on it? Is that normal or could that be some kind of a clue? Secondly, the website appears offline, how come it displays a picture of the pioneer plaque on the facebook page?

Okay idk what was going on, it doesnt do it anymore.. but i swear the url changed everytime i clicked on it..
