Do you think BoC's success has made them feel more frustrated ?

Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC
Now that the show is over, and we have jointly exercised our constitutional rights, we would like to leave you with one very important thought. Sometime in the future, you may have the opportunity to serve as a juror in a censorship case, or a so-called "obscenity case".
It would be wise to remember that the same people who would stop you from indulging in Boards of Canada-related internet fun may be back next year to complain about an Instagram account, or even a liked tweet. If you could be told what you could see or read, then it follows that you could be told what to say or think. Defend your twoism.org protected rights. No one else will do it for you.
Thank you.

Im chuckling, fitting and funny
Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC
I get the feeling that BoC just wish they were around to musically score the thing that inspired them as kids/
Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC
this sounds lovely
Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC
There's a BOC song title that fits what's gone on lately: Nothing is Real.
Warning: This numerology post is not to be taken 2 seriously.
Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC
Interesting connection:
A lyric in Joni Mitchell's Amelia (inspired by Amelia Earhart) is:
And since 2009 there has been a Project Icarus which is a theoretical engineering design study for an unmanned interstellar space probe
....Man I love space-themed stuff. Would love to hear a BoCosmos album
A lyric in Joni Mitchell's Amelia (inspired by Amelia Earhart) is:
which of course makes you think: Satellite Anthem IcarusA ghost of aviation
She was swallowed by the sky
Or by the sea like me she had a dream to fly
Like Icarus ascending
On beautiful foolish arms
Amelia it was just a false alarm
And since 2009 there has been a Project Icarus which is a theoretical engineering design study for an unmanned interstellar space probe
....Man I love space-themed stuff. Would love to hear a BoCosmos album
Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC
I think you should all try and discover some music you've never heard before. I recently found this. Completely unrelated to BoC BUT I'M sure they'd love tracks like this

I think the chance that it's some massive hoax is essentially zero, especially considering the activity lined up with a bunch of new Twitter likes and an official FB post, combined with all the signs that the Hell Interface FB account is real.Echelon wrote: Rereading the head-spinning last 10 pages, makes me think that there might be something more dastardly going on. A hoax or a late April Fool's prank. But it's impossible to tell since there was activity from both the suspicious accounts (the HI facebook, Seoul Boundary, Marcus account) and the confirmed accounts (Facebook, Twitter.)
This is either a prank one-upping Catherine Fell or one giant disinformation clusterfuck that might be related to the theme of the next album.
Either way, it's been fun and no hard feelings. Anything that gets fifty people on the site brings joy to my heart.
A period of inactivity doesn't mean that it's all over... All this increasing activity over the past few months has felt like tremors before an earthquake.

You know what, you convinced me on this. I'll stay optimistic it was them.SamuraiDrifter wrote:I think the chance that it's some massive hoax is essentially zero, especially considering the activity lined up with a bunch of new Twitter likes and an official FB post, combined with all the signs that the Hell Interface FB account is real.Echelon wrote: Rereading the head-spinning last 10 pages, makes me think that there might be something more dastardly going on. Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC
Yeah, hate to be a spoil-sport, but I echo the sentiments of whoever said that this is essentially Red Moon pt. 2. Odds are that these posts were a total red herring, and any attempt on our part to decipher them or look for clues as to how they may explain upcoming releases will be futile. There's a chance that BoC themselves had nothing to do with it. I remember seeing an MDG quote once about how the band doesn't even have much to do with maintaining their social media accounts. Who's to say someone wasn't just having a bit of fun before getting the command to make everything going dark? At least they served to get people talking and break up the monotony of late-quarantine life, but I'll be surprised if we get any clarification on what these brief bubbles of activity meant.
At the same time, though, I never expected they would use an official profile to post a Raiders of the Lost Ark video, so hey, anything's possible. There's also the odd parallel of the video itself being a zombie animated and singing - kind of like the band re-animating the dead corpse of the account, no? Does this connection really imply anything deeper, or is it just a byproduct of man's pattern-seeking nature? The answer, my friends...

You sure about that quote? I did some searching here and did not find anything yet.Antares wrote:Yeah, hate to be a spoil-sport, but I echo the sentiments of whoever said that this is essentially Red Moon pt. 2. Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC
Even if those posts are a red herring, wouldn't they still just be doing it to get our attention anyway? Like maybe the real album promotion will start later but they just wanted to get some activity out there to test the waters or let us know they're active still... Either way it's exciting.Antares wrote:Yeah, hate to be a spoil-sport, but I echo the sentiments of whoever said that this is essentially Red Moon pt. 2. Since Covid showed up I haven't been doing anything in life besides work and listening or making music. this whole drama or whatever it is keeps me entertained every day. What the best part is most of all this is going on in our heads. We have so little actual info and so much possibilities. Keep speculating!

Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC
MDG has not said that the band doesn't have much to do with managing their social media... He said that several people, including him, have access to Myspace to help with spam.
IMO it was definitely them behind all the activity, but it doesn't necessarily mean anything is imminent. It does seem hard to deny they're stirring the pot, though.

Also they wouldn't let just anyone "have a little fun" on their social media accounts besides themselves I don't think... They are very protective of their image. I also highly doubt they'd let anyone but themselves manage their social media accounts lol.

Exactly. I don't know of another band as meticulous and image conscious as BOC... Everything they're doing is, in some sense, deliberate. The question is what it actually means.Biznasty wrote:Also they wouldn't let just anyone "have a little fun" on their social media accounts besides themselves I don't think... Was referring to this post from 2009 about their MySpace usage.Fredd-E wrote:You sure about that quote? I feel like a Talmudic scholar even bringing this up, trying to make sense of the present by referencing ancient texts by authorities from the past who no longer speak with usto clear this up: the myspace page was taken over by warp some time ago, and is now maintained by both warp staff and a couple of friends of the band, on a 'when time permits' basis. the 'you and i' player on the page is apparently only visible to US users, and was added by myspace themselves. they've been contacted a few times with requests to remove the 'you and i' thing but they've ignored the requests.

Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC
I rewatched that Raiders deepfake again this morning - it's really goddamn funny. No idea if anyone from HS is responsible, but it's something else.
And yeah, when I was referring to this activity as a red herring, I really meant it in a Discordian sort of way - it's definitely activity that they have to know will stir their devoted fanbase, but it's also funny, chaotic and potentially meaningless. It may be leading up to something or may be breadcrumbs leading to nowhere - and that might be the point, until the next project is announced!
