Hey, I found this video
on a Reddit page. It seems to have all the characteristics of a clue account made by BoC, but it doesn't seem to have any purpose. I suppose even if it was a clue it's now irrelevant, but it still intrests me. What do you guys think?

This video in particular always seemed like a hoax to me. I was never convinced, the music is fine but the video name and background image especially seemed remarkably unlike anything BoC would do.

On the other hand, I always thought this was a reasonably convincing fake.

The music is very predictable, like an observant parody of BoC being caricatures of themselves. But I like it nonetheless and listened to it numerous times during the ARG. I believed this to be a hoax too from the start, but I at least found it more convincing.

Yeah the volscp one is pretty good. I like the little riff on the "we cannot connect your call" tones. I think that falls into the same uncanny valley as birthday tape. One of the better fakies/pisstakes.

I never really believed the volscp one. It's generated VHS video, which BoC would never do. Reforestation on the other hand looks like they used real VHS', which would be more BoC-esque

i thought the dominant theory was that volscp was produced by tycho because his label or something were the first ones to link to it on facebook + he is one of the more prominent boc-worshipers making music atm..

Would make sense. It does sound very Tycho-ish. Although I can't imagine him going out of his way to make a BoC fake.

Someone pointed out on IRC while this was all ongoing that "volscp" sounds like it's using "Canadian Pad 1", one of the preset synth patches in Reason's built-in soundbank. With a bit of effects use it doesn't take much to get the Standard BoC/Tycho-ish Sound™. And yeah, the video processing (and default Sony Vegas font) gives it away.

That's what they were talking about? Fuck. I've listened to that fake a lot. That and a bunch of other fakes from here: are pretty lovely.

Thank you! I love that track regardless if it's a fake or not. It gives off a very surreal feeling when combined with the still image used in the original video.
