I struggle to get with the idea that when I die, this consciousness will just end and I will never think again, but nobody has ever come back with that knowledge so we'll never know.
I do kinda like the idea that there is a place for our mind and that is what we are, a consciousness, not the flesh that we are in and I find the idea that substances like ayahuasca/DMT can take us to places that feel more real than reality and the way many people feel like they have somehow gone home with love all around them.
So maybe we are in a game, a task, a matrix of sorts. Not that this world is not real but that we are entities not of this earth with no physical body and we have taken it upon ourselves to occupy these vessels in order to test our strength and build ourselves to climb a hierarchy. Born into the vessel with no memory to see how we do, to learn and be better without even knowing we're being tested when in the game. When we fail or when we win we are taken away for praise or put back again to try again, over and over.

I like your idea. I also came to this weird consensus, that it is not possible to reason, or comprehend what happens after death, because as the brain stop function, same is with everything we understand. A point of no return if you will.

As my believes for what happens after we die, I believe in some kind of spirit world, which can populate our world through time and space. An abandoned house, a graveyard, forests, caves, lakes, wind, fog, the nature.
