Have always thought this track is a bit of a masterclass in sampling, and after accidentally coming up with a patch that sounds pretty similar to the eerie intro pads while doing some sampling for my own material recently, I started thinking about doing a cover or maybe a bit of a production demonstration...
I've done a couple of videos before where I tried to emulate the BoC sound as closely as possible as a learning exercise for myself:
'Tears From The Compound Eye' -
'The Colour Of The Fire' -
Would anyone here be interested in watching me attempt (and possibly fail) to "rebuild" 'An Eagle In Your Mind' from scratch, using tape, synthesizers, "known samples" and a sampler?
If I go ahead with it, this will most likely be my last BoC related video.
A couple more ideas:
• Should it be a series of videos or a long video ending (or starting) with the cover?
• Would you prefer to watch an ongoing series of longer, quiet (almost ASMR) videos documenting the whole process (sampling, tape work, editing etc.), or shorter 5-10 minute videos of the interesting bits?
• Most importantly would anyone like to contribute anything to it? I'm not sure if it's actually turntable scratching going on in the original but something like that would be super cool, or even a bit of dialog, a sample or some synth?
Pretty ambitious but I have a good feeling about it! Let me know what you think.

I'd certainly be interested in seeing/hearing that.

YES

maybe 2? One making of (inc. cover, I agree), one just the cover.

Would love the longer vids! Itd be great to see your workflow and the project in progress

That'd be really cool actually! Though all I have is Garageband and some guitars laying about. Would that be of any help?

Paul, I haven't posted on here in years but occasionally drop in to see if there is any news.
Your videos are incredible, so much talent in display! I like the 5 minute format of the interesting bits and would love to see how you tackle An Eagle In Your Mind.
That is all
