Re: The Music Video Thread

I feel like going on a nostalgia trip right now since a majority of pre-teen years were spent in front of the TV watching VH1. Here's some videos I remember liking that have aged decently, at least to me on a personal level:

Nada Surf - Always Love

I remember this one would only air in the middle of the night so it always had an odd feeling to it with its de-saturated colors, like it coincided with the sun rising. "Always love, hate will get you every time" is a motto of mine.

Five for Fighting - The Riddle

Very nostalgic one for me. My sister used to make mix CDs for me to listen to during the car rides to visit my mother and this was on one of them. The setting of the video really reminds me of the scenic views while riding on the freeway.

Nickelback - Savin' Me

Yeah, yeah, I know. I think this one's aged decently, even if a little on the early 2000s cornball side, given the whole concept of hyper-fixation on mortality; very relatable these days :( . Honestly, this is the one Nickelback song I actually like ("Photograph" is ok too) and wouldn't mind hearing on the radio every so often.

Daniel Powter - Bad Day

I don't like the song as much these days, but the video still holds up to me. I'm a very isolated person (both physically and mentally) but I often think of how my actions line up with ones going on in the lives of other people. I casually "people watch" I suppose. Also the obligatory day-to-day monotony theme. The drawing scene reminds me of how sometimes I would draw smiley faces on freight pallets at work so that someone else would see it when they pull it back down, only to have the next person to pull it down be me :| .

Lifehouse - First Time

In my own silly spirituality that I based on the color wheel, the color red represents positive emotion (eg. happiness, anger, laughter), and I seem to recall an anecdote that said that was the point of the video. I still sorta think it's about losing virginity, though

Pond - Sitting Up On Our Crane (possible epilepsy warning.)

Very unique.
Pond are mainly known as the yang to Tame Impala's ying. This one shows off their bright psychedelia well. Trippy liquid house visuals taking influence from the Acid-fuelled 90's. Get me to Ibiza.

Father John Misty - Things It Would Have Been Helpful To Know Before The Revolution

Stop-motion. Still devastated me when I watched it first time around. Great creativity poured. :)

Caravan Palace - Comics

Can't categorize this concept video from the worlds best electro-swing act!

Beck - Mixed Bizness

The video is twice as wacky as the lyrics. Only one I can compare it stylistically to is Michael Jackson's Scream.

The original promotional music video for "You're Not Here" that made an appearance in DDR Extreme restructured to fit the length of the album version of the song:

The live action music video for the same song made for the Oscar winning box office hit (sarcasm) "Silent Hill: Revelation" that I honestly think is even better than the actual movie (not sarcasm) . I didn't even know this existed until a few months ago:

I think this may be one of the most iconic/defining songs from my childhood. Those riffs take me back to times listening to it off of some likely defunct by now mp3 site because I was too young to know how to properly download songs. I then dropped out of college to study Silent Hill lore.
