This dude is taking the piss my man. He took BoC fans for a ride because....reasons? Kinda have to be a pretty big dork to go through all that effort imo.

“Well played”, but also damn annoying. Glad they didn’t drag this out for too long

I think it's entirely in keeping with their mischievous and playful humour.

What's the alternative scenario? That by the time they were making fairly amateurish demo tapes/CDs to send round record labels (e.g. BOC Maxima) they had already released several albums on CD, vinyl and cassette in numbers of up to 200 each and not one single photo, let alone actual music, has ever surfaced from these? That over nearly 30 years they have managed to keep 200 or more people sworn to secrecy because one day they would have a mysterious reputation to uphold? Come on.
You think Maxima is amateurish?

I guess just be thankful it wasn't dragged out.

The detail i am most impressed by is the list of releases on Discogs. Totally fits the scam. Bis was a name i had not heard in a very long time.

I saw his face and immediately thought "isn't that the guy from this video? "

Damn, full props to James though. He duped me and many others very good, and the songs on this record sound like they would fit what we know of Hooper Bay.

The music, no absolutely not. The cover art etc, yes.

Exactly the same kind of thing i was making in that time for my own burned CDRs and tapes with whatever crappy cracked layout software i had and cheap printer.

Just to note that Biznasty composed Seward Leaf and Noatak, and Niski from TMW composed the other three. :)

I still stand by this music sounding plausible lmfao

even though it's confirmed fake, it's the result of a lotta hard work. biznasty and niski definitely put their all into this

little details like misaligning the album art on the print (see: white margins), hand-playing the synths, picking out appropriate samples, recreating and matching up Circle + the song timestamps, using a record player different from the one in the "Average Boards of Canada Fan" vid...

like I know I'm coping. but as a musician, this gives me confidence that I can make cool ambient stuff?

if even biznasty can do it, with enough grit we can all make our own Hooper Bays... metaphorically speaking
