Swedish indie artist Yaeger ”borrows” from Kaini Industries

Post by Gothicburger »

Swedish artist Yaeger today released her new track ”Jaguar” which has the riff from Kaini Industries running throughout the track. The brothers are not credited as songwriters.

Listen to it here:

I'm not sure where the distinction between "Sampling" and "Songwriting" is defined.

e.g.
"Firestarter" by The Prodigy has Art of Noise and Kim Deal included in the writing credits (small samples), whereas "It Was a Good Day" by Ice Cube does not have The Isley Brothers in the writing credits (prominent sample).

Is it so hard to come up with your original melody or idea?

The sample should elevate the original and not just wank it up for an instant reward, which the listener will forget

I really like how in recent movie the The Creator they used Radiohead track, it was very memorable and benefited both works, in my opinion

While it isn't a great thing when the sample is the best part of the song (see "Butterfly" by Crazy Town), I think they used the sample perfectly serviceably, provided they got legal permission. No different than what Solange did. There's surely a lot of people out there now that'll remember the melody from this rather than BoC, and that's fine. Music has the right to children after all.

I found this one, and it has The Color Of The Fire entirely in the background:

I kinda like it. Hearing it from a different angle is cool.

Shame the vocals dont really sit right on it though

I'm a big fan of newer underground rap, not a bad song. I was aware that suicide boys sampled The Color of the Fire before, but how did you manage to discover this one?

There are distributors of music that you just upload an audio and the AI shows which songs on Spotify already contain samples of the audio you uploaded before you distribute.
I tried with one of the songs i made that has the sample of The Color Of The Fire and the result was this, but i could just upload The Color Of The Fire itself that the result would be the same.
