This is based on nothing but me throwing speculation around and may be factually inaccurate in several waysFrindia wrote: Yes but why now? They could have done this 5, 9, 7, 8 years ago.
- Cosecha website is created for the TH campaign by Warp marketing
- TH releases, Boards begin work on new material / old releases
- Warp slowly lose relevance as a creative force over a number of years
- Boards become disgruntled with the label or get a heads up that the deal is coming up
- Boards delay releases until it's all gone through, because maybe some rights return to them per the contract / they don't want to release any more material under the current label regime
- Deal begins to happen
- Release comes off the back burner, website gets updated by Boards as a more tangible thing
Like I said all speculation, probably wrong in several ways but there's lots of reasons stuff could happen at any time based on business or creative stuff we can't see.

No, not with the morse code after it.IronMark wrote:Is there a chance that the 'nobody home' page wasn't put in place by a human and is something auto-generated?

Soon we’ll be in our ritual sacrifice era of waiting, who knows maybe this fandom turning into a fullblown cult will give us LP5 and even LP6
Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC PART II
So you guys have a mods forum where MDG posts stuff? And you're not even sharing? Is that why you think "nobody home" isn't related to LP5?...Fredd-E wrote:sorry. My bad. That's the mod forum, I was too quick.
MDG told us the NCD website has no relevance to BoC whatsoever.
I still wonder what this New Clear Dawn stuff is about. IIRC the DNS domain was registered with Hexagon Sun at some point, so while it might not be related to BoC, I wonder why would they pay to keep this website online for all these years.

Oh wait we have new info, or more so elaboration from MDG? I see. What else is tucked away in that forum from Mr. Emmdeegee? Maybe Fredde’s NDA theory is a bit more concrete than I thoughtOttomatik wrote:So you guys have a mods forum where MDG posts stuff? And you're not even sharing? Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC PART II
Yes, there's a mod forum, not that uncommon.
The newcleardawn website is just not related to the Boards of Canada project. It is a cool URL in any case, and that could be the reason that whoever registered it keeps it in their possession. If they don't, squatters will no doubt snatch it up.
I am a proponent of Occam's razor principle and thus regarding the “Nobody home...” change I think it simply means that this site no longer serves for what it once served in 2013. At most, it could herald the end of an era and perhaps in that way indirectly open the gate for a new album later this year (hopefully). There could also be a subtle nod to more dedicated fans, see for yourself:
This gives me two insights:

----- / ------ / ------ / XXXXXX / ------ / ------
- What was here prior to this message is over now: nobody home
- Morse code is kinda visually similar to what once was the theme in 2013

No doubt the IMPEL acquisition could've some (major) impact on the above. At the very least, such business processes often cause the potential delays. Let's hope they ironed out the devil in the details.Negamuse wrote: - Warp slowly lose relevance as a creative force over a number of years

cosecha website has been clearly abandoned.... so now we need to look elsewhere....
It is the Self, the individual Mind, that contains immortality and ultimate truth.
Now I know where the Self is. It's in our own minds. It's a form of human energy. Our atoms are six billion years old. We've got six billion years of memory in our minds.

If perhaps it does mean that the site is “unmanned”, it’s probably to point out to us that there is another site or location that will play a similar role.
Fred’s right, the 36 likes in conjunction to the site change is very encouraging.

Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC PART II
The most bizarre part about the cosecha site is that the message on it is literally the only content on the website. There isn’t even any HTML on the page at all, meaning that someone definitely had to go out of their way to make it the way that it is. Even trying to save the page on my web browser is odd because it tried to save it as an MS-DOS COM file. In other words, my browser confused the page as being a file rather than a weblink. It would be one thing if the “Nobody home…” message was there on its own, but having a duplicate of it written in Morse code seems out of place if it’s something only meant to be taken at face value. Maybe I’m reading too much into it but I kinda have a feeling that it has more significance.

Yeah, I would argue nearly all of BoC's art has meaning they are trying to conveyThe Dookster wrote:The most bizarre part about the cosecha site is that the message on it is literally the only content on the website. Did they remove their Follows on IG?
Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC PART II
No.
They don't follow anyone however.

Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC PART II
Sure, it COULD, but. . . Someone went to the trouble to prepare and publish a change to a website that has sat untouched for a decade in order to inform BoC’s fanbase that their longstanding hopes for a new release are in vain, and instead of a clear unambiguous statement (which would have required zero additional effort) they posted a vague message subject to all sorts of interpretation?HappyCyclist wrote:I’m following along. Their social media likes haven't done anything for me. I see MDG as credible, but… slow. Them saying three years ago that an album is on the way makes me shrug. It would be nice if they had more of a presence here, weird that this was in the DMs.Fredd-E wrote:Only if people choose to ignore all previous hints of new music, then yes.HappyCyclist wrote:The message could easily be perceived as nothing is coming. The context of the bigger picture is important.
It shouldn’t be written off so easily that the message “nobody home…” could mean just that.
Doesn’t make sense to me.
