Working on a semi-remastered Boc Maxima... (IT IS DONE)

I've had the idea to do this for a while, since I love Maxima but so many of its tracks can be found in higher quality on other releases. Tonight I finally did it in Ableton Live, replacing tracks wherever possible and tediously getting them to crossfade as accurately as possible to the original Maxima. I also added the deep bass from MHTRTC's One Very Important Thought to Maxima's version, yielding a rather nice-sounding result.

I'm pretty pleased with the result, but I'm going to give it a listen or two to make sure I don't need to adjust the track volumes more.

Once I consider it ready for general consumption, would it be acceptable for me to link to it here, since Maxima isn't actually being sold anywhere? If not, anyone want to help me distribute it by other means? Heh.

Keep in mind, though, that the tracks that were only on Maxima (Whitewater, Red Moss, the Maxima version of Chinook, etc.) have not been modified in any way.

I like the clipped out grainy cassette version myself. But a remixed version would be cool too.

Hmm. For Carcan, it seems there's no way I can avoid the added sounds from the A Few Old Tunes version. I was originally going to loop it to avoid that, but there's an extra melody that comes in and plays once towards the end (once Nlogax's beat has faded in), so...deal with it I guess.

I don't think it'll be a problem to post it here being as Boc Maxima is unreleased but I'd double check with Aesthetics before doing so.

I thought about it, but the problem with that is that Nlogax has already crossfaded in at that point.

NINJA EDIT: Other than possibly messing around with Carcan a bit more, the only thing left to do is fix the length on Nova Scotia Robots. I accidentally made it a few seconds too short. Everything else is pretty much done. However, I'm going to be away for the next few days, so I won't be able to work on it or upload it until a few days after Christmas.

I don't see how well this could work. There's small differences in a number of the tracks between the Maxima version and the later ones (removing that metal scorch sound at the start of Maxima's Chinook would be criminal).

Even if they are the same, I don't see how you will be able to effectively blend the Maxima-only tunes with the pristine shiny studio tracks, it would just sound too uneven.

If you do do this, please be sure to mark it very clearly, it's hard enough to find a complete and correct copy of BoC Maxima as it is with all the (poorly compiled) patchwork versions already out there.

It works pretty well, actually. You just have to be patient enough to figure out the slight pitch differences between the different versions so they can sync up without trainwrecking. Once I upload it I'll let you judge for yourself, though.

Also, I haven't modified Chinook, so don't you worry. The most noticeably "different" track is Carcan, and I might be able to devise a solution for that.

you should remaster the entire original rather than splicing in tracks from other releases. it's not boc maxima anymore, but rather what you wish boc maxima to be.

and by "remaster", what exactly do you mean? what else are you doing to the audio?

I've only heard a few maxima tracks that i found on various P2P networks... i don't have the complete release and I can't even be sure mine are genuine... There's an alternate version of Chinook?
