Screaming in 1969?

Post by farnoldfisher »

I was listening to Geogaddi while working today, when I thought I heard a shriek. After making sure it was not someone around me, I looked at what song was on. I was listening to 1969. I replayed the track, and I could hear a clear shriek at about 2:09, about 10 degrees (slightly) towards the right side.

To me, the shriek/scream sounds very similar to the screams in the slowed-down and reversed You Could Feel The Sky. I was wondering if anyone else could also hear this.

Not so sure after listening to it again. Could just be a coincidence, maybe a new sample starts playing right then. But it does sound just like a scream!

I can't hear it. If anything, I'm catching one of those glittery high-pitched sounds but they're all over that track.

Yes its all over the track. I always thought it was some low-pass res on the whispers in the background. Haunting sound nontheless.

Is there a way to isolate or amplify this?

In a way, sure, but its not going to do you allot of good. You'd have to do it yourself and there is the danger that you get lost in the editing and sculpt it the way you want it to sound instead of what it really sounds like. I could edit it to the point where there is only a fart sound, but that doesnt mean the brothers farted over their record. Your best bet is to listen to the track attentively, meditatively.

It would make me very happy to find out they sampled one of their own farts and used it in a track. Shows they have a sense of humor and an affinity for Mexican food, two things I enjoy greatly.

Well, the creaking noise in You Could Feel The Sky kinda sounds like a fart.

You need to work on the "subliminal" part of subliminal messaging :P

I remember someone telling me about the scream a couple of years ago and I even slowed it down just to make sure. It sounds a lot like a scream when it's slowed down.

I think it is in more than one song though. I remember it being in You Could Feel The Sky, not 1969

Yes, very good. Actually, that same sound is repeated in other parts too. You can hear it at 03:42 and 04:09 as well.

Actually in the 04:09 part where you can hear it, I can actually hear it panning from left to right. Only that time though.

I never noticed this, and I used to listen to this song all the time! Thanks! I feel kinda creeped out though.

Whole track is made of screams. So if 1969 is your favorite, lol.
04:09, 2:09, 3:42 are the most prevalent but most of the sound in the track is human voice. Arpeggios especially

Always thought the fart in YCFTS was the sound of a Froglet from the Clangers
