Nothingness is real and Jesus lied to protect fragile and hysteric minds from the concept?
How can nothingness be a concept and real though? Is it a clumsy way to illustrate the absence of Heaven and Hell?
I know it's an old post but what the hell. This got me thinking...

Nothing is real. No-thing is real.

A thing needs space to exist in. Space is emptiness/nothingness. Just like sound needs silence, without silence in the background there can be no sound.

The empty space/silence is consciousness itself and everything that happens inside this space is observed by consciousness itself.
If one looks at it like that then one can see that all opposites are actually part of duality, two sides of the same coin.
The human mind only knows duality, therefore human thinking can never "understand" nothingness, only as a concept.
To understand nothingness one needs to go beyond the mind, beyond opposites, beyond analyzing, labeling and judging.

Language and thinking are both forms of duality. But what if there is something that makes all of that possible in the first place, an empty space in which everything else exists? What happens when one observes without labeling or judging and what is this place where the observation comes from? Nothingness. Yet all we perceive within this space is real for us because we are conscious of it. It's like a 3D dream, real but at the same time unreal. It's amazing, this "thing" we call consciousness :)

What I think they mean with the Jesus reference is that the mind always wants more than it already has. The human mind is greedy, because it wants eternal life, not knowing that eternal life is what is here already. Consciousness will always be there because it is eternal as time only exists in the mind. Time exists only because the mind thinks in opposites, like birth and death. But life itself is the middle way and it will always be here.
Opposites do not exist in actuality as they are merely a mind-made illusion of duality. They are like labels used to rationalize the irrational.

What one needs is willingness and comfort there (read: here and now). I think that last part is about surrender, going with the flow of life. Not in the future, which is another one of two sides of the coin, past and future. Life is now. Is there ever a moment that is not now?

That's my take anyway. Carry on :)
There are three possibilities in life: to be something, nothing or everything. In the first there is suffering, in the second there is peace and in the third there is happiness and love."

Maybe in that regard hell is like being in a loop of judgement, judging thoughts, emotions/feelings, oneself, others, experiences, etc.
Opposed to heaven being in a place of observation, non-judging, non-resistance and surrendering to life and knowing that we can ultimately not control life and stuff that is happening.

A good read, Gazebo4. I do disagree with some of your post, despite it's truly enjoyable exercise of my mind. I hope you do not mind and I mean none of this as some sort of personal attack against you. I simply enjoy a good discussion on interesting things. I hope you enjoy reading my post as much as I enjoyed reading yours. :)

Time is not a thing that exists. It is a concept to explain change. A point in time is the stationary state of all existence. The flow of time is it's process of change in all the ways that things that exist do change. These changes can and do happen without any involvement of our consciousness.

Is yes the opposite of no? It depends on the question. The question leading to a yes or no answer presents a concept, but does not represent reality. It's typically a method we use to process information and make a decision as to what to do next. However, if you look at it from within it's own conceptual form, then of course a yes is the opposite of no. It is it's opposing outcome.

There are moments that are not now. They have already passed and have also not yet happened. We simply cannot leave the moment that is now.

Something cannot come from nothing. The ingredients aren't there.

Our minds do not observe something out of nothingness. They observe something out of conceptual possibility. If you want to think of something that comes from nothingness, try your best to come up with an entirely new colour that our eyes can see.

It's been a while, but I saw this video below yesterday and it got me thinking about the Nothing Is Real thing again.
Everything discussed here is explained very well by Dr. Russell.

This song (really the whole album, but especially this song) is a brilliant experiment in playing with the listener's perception. The first time I heard this song I had no idea what the distorted voice in the middle was saying. It wasn't until someone on here cleaned up/isolated the audio and posted the text that I could hear the "Jesus was it you indeed?" message, and nowI can't un-hear it. Yet if I played the song for someone else, they probably wouldn't be able to hear it, while I would very clearly, even though we're listening to the same track.

It reminds me of those audio illusions where you listen to an audio track, and it just sounds like garbled gibberish, then you listen while reading an accompanying text and you can hear the words emerge as you read them. Also kind of like the Laurel and Yanny thing, how two people can interpret the same audio in totally different ways.

"The essence of the intellect is criticism, the essence of the mind is creation. The mind brings out what cannot be done, the intellect provides for this. This is evidenced by Bayle's insight that intelligence is sufficient only to detect mistakes, but too little to find truths. And really: understanding critique is initially practiced and refined by analyzing all the sensory sensations involved. Here, by making sensory decisions, the child learns to perceive and notice differences. Critics who have detached themselves from this aspect and have focused on themselves need to replace the sensory activity that plays the role of the object. That substitute can only come through an already existing mindset that is now being refined by abstract critique. There is simply no other way of thinking, one that is free to see anything out of nothing.
And primitive man, who had not yet begun to think abstractly, had formed a religious worldview. This is the object that the intellect is now critically exploring. The origins of all the sciences have to do with religion, they all have been found to operate under the common assumptions of spiritual religion; they mean nothing more than an abstract improvement of this mistaken, less abstract science. Every science still has a nucleus of religion in its universe of its basic concepts, problems, and methods. Every new truth discovered by the intellect is nothing but a critical decision about another truth that has already existed. The polarity of new and old knowledge means that there is only relative infallibility in the world of intellectual intelligence, i. some solutions with higher persuasiveness than others. Critical knowledge is based on the belief that today’s understanding is superior to yesterday’s. It is life that makes you believe in that late."

It always creeped me out the way that the pitch shifts/flattens within the first line of the lyrics, as if a question is being answered: "Jesus, was it you? [Indeed.]" The timing is a bit unnatural, but it has always stood out to me. Also, Is Real/Israel and the quote speaking to Jesus...

Hello! I just made a recent discovery. Recently picked up The Book of Nothing by John D. Barrow, and in the description it has written “this book illustrates the fact that nothing is real.” Has anyone read this? I’ve read his other book on Infinity back in high school.Image

12 years later and I still have no clue what does the speech at the end of the track mean... like man, really. Was trying so hard, following the little arpeggios-effects (dunno what's that exactly, sounds like stars) in stereo, trying to "learn" my hearing to be set and ready to catch any word. Nothing.

That's cruel!

Conflation of concepts of salvation and greed.

Conflation of voices.

Distraction dependant civilization *at odds with* harsh realities until the moment the party ends.

Jesus, was it you indeed,
to flirt unkindly with my greed,
promising eternal life,
when you knew it was not right,
when you knew that what I'd need was willingness and comfort there?

Nothing is real

We have been convinced that evolution is the sole reason we are the way we are. it looks like that because it had to. It had been designed to look like that

Plausible deniability

Every living thing on this planet was designed by an alien superintelligence

We aren't intelligent enough ourselves to solve the mysteries of the universe but we have reached a point where we have realised that all life on earth has been genetically modified from the very beginning

I may even go so far to say that this entire reality is a fabrication for the sole purpose of genetic engineering

But what is the purpose of that?

We are tomorrow's harvest
