Keeping the faith alive!
There are still plenty of fans listening to their music.
I can speculate that they go off and do other things between making music, maybe for long stretches of time and coming back fresh again.

Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC PART II
I guess I am at a similar pointin life, like when Mother Teresa found herself lost of her faith... "The Uncomfortable Silence of God"
The uncomfortable silence of BOC.
Yeah yeah, the collabs, remixes, mixtape and other fluff that is for all intents and purposes silly side quests. I am talking about the real stuff here. Not the WARP/Whoever let's repress/reprint/use their back catalog to squeeze more out of the masses.
Is BOC being disingenuous, or are they so disconnected from their fan base (as seems to be the case if you gather the info about their want of absolute privacy) that they don't care?
I know voices will come up saying that the artists owes us nothing but I will counter that I have emotionally invested in them and as an investor, I expect some level of SOMETHING back.
Is it childish? Absolutely it is, but here we are.
Doesn't take much, a picture of them at the console in their studio, or out in the land, something that's more than quackery tea-leaf reading or similar pareidolia to comfort the mind with little white lies.
Anyways, seems I am/was right, and I hate that.

I think the most plausible Occam’s Razor compatible answer was already given in this thread earlier.
We can only accept their wish to disappear and reappear when they see fit. This way of working did wonders in their 30+ year spanning career. Never change a winning formula?♄ope keeper wrote:2005 interview
However, we are honest. We are not manipulators. We, between one record and another, disappear. We want the music to speak.

looking around at things now, the silence is not surprising
Interviewer: "How much does the current political instability in the world affect your music?"
Marcus: "Looking at the current situation, sometimes I feel inspired to create something dark and challenging out of this chaos. But on other days, I feel the best approach is to counter it and create something fresher and more positive. The media worldwide is already doing a good job of instilling fear and maintaining it daily. We don't need to add to that. While our music does have dark and surreal elements, the underlying message is always one of hope and freedom."

Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC PART II
Lately I’ve been thinking that Boards of Canada have reached a state of deep silence — and in our perception, they’ve become something very close to the idea of God. They exist, we feel their presence, we want to see and understand them, but they never speak. It’s as if their silence itself has become part of their language. You can’t interact with them directly, only sense them through echoes and memories. That distance creates something sacred, like the feeling of searching for meaning or connection with something that never answers back — but you know it’s there. - all of it is written by chat GPT from my prompt. Maybe someone will understand what iam trying to say maybe i have not so healthy mind idk
Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC PART II
I find the dissaperance, not talking to fans, not giving video interviews very very very SILLY. There, I said it. C'mon, they're just human beings, they're not freaking gods. You can let your music "speak" and still show up once in a while. I find them extremists.
I love their music, though.

Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC PART II
My feeling is they are not done. Another album is probably coming and when it does they will do a small number of interviews explaining why it's taken them so long to release another LP and the reasons will make us feel some guilt for being obsessive weirdos. Like, maybe it's creative issues, label issues, heavy personal stuff, or some combination thereof. I don't know, just something to consider.

Peggy Suicide is missing ...DrudesInterviewer: "Beck once said, "Music is something timeless that exists outside politics and economics. My music is rarely influenced by such matters." What are your thoughts on his statement?"
Marcus: "I can't completely agree. Of course, music has the power to be perfectly escapist, and you could say it's all fantasy. But politics affects everything, and it always has. Psychedelic hippie culture of the 60s and the popular music that emerged from it were reactions against the imperialistic and ruthless politics of that time. Some of the greatest and most important music in history came from protest movements. Reggae in the 70s, New Wave music from the early 80s urban scene, and the anti-commercial grunge scene of the early 90s—all were born from protest. Popular music itself originated from Black slaves, with beautiful music emerging from the worst conditions and spreading from person to person."

This. This is exactly what I've been thinking - also they have still been, albeit, very subtly, active. What with all the posting the OVIT vids and liking posts and all that. If they weren't still active with some material inevitably looming, I don't think they'd waste much time on social media liking posts and the like.Josh wrote:My feeling is they are not done. The truth is, nobody knows. Nor I, nor you. We just have to wait. Remember, the internet busiest music nerd gave Tomorrow's Harvest a 6/10.Josh wrote:My feeling is they are not done. So who knows, hope they will be back sooner than later. And they will have something interesting to say. And people will be still excited.
World changes. 15 years is still quite a time, even for the Brothers. But I feel some things doesn't change. Peoples interest in passing time listening to electronic soundscapes, In any shape or form.
And everything else is just a noise.
Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC PART II
I like the idea that the reason we've been waiting so long for LP5 is because the brothers are sweating at the idea of Anthony Fantanos score.vitriolie wrote:Remember, the internet busiest music nerd gave Tomorrow's Harvest a 6/10.

They must get a perfect 10, they will get a perfect 10. Else it was all for nothing...

We care. BOC better not release until it is 10/0 across the board. Cause the internet never forgets and reviews are forever.llydia wrote:I like the idea that the reason we've been waiting so long for LP5 is because the brothers are sweating at the idea of Anthony Fantanos score.vitriolie wrote:Remember, the internet busiest music nerd gave Tomorrow's Harvest a 6/10.

Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC PART II
I have felt for some time that difficulty with Warp was the main cause for the delay.
I doubt they feel the same about the label given the current line up.
Plus Steve Beckett is not involved any longer.
It’s not the same home it used to be.

You got a source on that, bud? I can't find anything to suggest he left Warp.John Kowalski wrote:Plus Steve Beckett is not involved any longer.
