A few old tunes....
Alright, on the "BOC Collections" topic, I mentioned that I had a burned copy of "a few old tunes vol 1"....well I got them off this site...http://www.eecs.harvard.edu/~mcarbone/m ... d%20Tunes/...does anyone here know if these are legit...I know at least a few are and ALL of them sound great even if they are not BOC perhaps....but all these tracks do seem legitmate.
Is there any place I can get vol 2 or any of the other older stuff? any help would be nice....

I have a copy of Vol. 2 but to be honest its not legit, i dont think boc did a vol. 2 i think its one of those urban legend type things. As far as i was aware, all old boc albums are NOT available and those that are, are fakes. There is some tunes from boc maxima and i think perhaps the full copy somewhere as ive heard it once (hmmm cant remember where) but as for the one you talk about im almost certain that vol 2 is none existent.
I was a memebr of one of those message forum list type things where people leave messages and they are e-mail distributed and there was a lot of talk about this subject and im sure im right

well put it this way i had a copy of vol.2 and i can tell you on slsk who has it, but if you listen to it, evenr ead the names of the song titles you can tell its not boc, to eb honest the sound isnt right, they dont even use the same stuff to make the sounds, its a poor rip to fill the hole ppl constantly try to fill who like boc
basically appreicate what we have already and hope to gods of the hexagon sun that they get their fingers out, stop changing nappies/diapers and make some more music!

I downloaded a torrent that is labeld A Few Old Tunes Vol 2.. and I am pretty sure they are all BoC songs, maybe just compiled by some person. And the songs are titled wrong which is kind of annoying! the song sixtyniner is titled - Sir Prancelot Brainfire... strange, but whatever, it still rules.

Hi there
I own the mp3 files from 3 different albuns/compilations/records (don't know exactly what to call it):
- "A Few Old Tunes volume 1"
- "Old Tunes volume 1" (the first time I saw it on the p2p programs was called "Random 35 Track Tape")
- and "Old Tunes volume 2".
I can't really say if they're legitime or false, but on the Old Tunes albuns there are tracks from Boards of Canada's true albuns and tracks that have nothing to do with those true albuns.
They could be from maniac BoC fans, they could be Hexagon Sun's members own musics... And they could be even from Boards of Canada as well!
The most pleasant album/compilation/record of the 3 indicated above is, in my opinion, "Old Tunes volume 1", but there are various tracks that I enjoy and I musically relate some of them to Boards of Canada.

old tunes vol.1
i d/loaded 3 or four untitled tracks from an album by the name of old tunes vol.1.
i am certain that they 'are' legit boc recordings as the audio segment of 'duffy' that was circulating is just a small portion of one of them. there is also another track which starts off with a kind of blues riff thats heavily tape distorted alongside
frantic laughing and what sounds like a steady 4/4 clapping sound (possibly a snare???) the riff then stops abruptly, and a more hazy acoustic guitar melody slowly builds to a kind of cresendo similar to julie and candy. The way the track changes at the beginning is BOC at they're best, its sounds like a live video recording being played on a dying 70's tv set, and then someone changes the channel to pete standing alone

i haven't got a second opinion whether it is actually BOC or want one for that matter but im quite sure it is them, because i've heard the soundalikes. they can't match this.
