Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC PART II
There's another event coming up that has a connection to BoC: Movement. A snippet of Cold Earth was played before Squarepusher's set in 2011. I don't see any obviously Warp connected acts on the lineup this year besides Danny Brown, but there's still a possibility we could get some kind of hint.
Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC PART II
Absolutely this - I've only had time to properly look at all this today and started off pretty confused, but - of course - there's already a page on BOCpages, with timelines, references, the videos and everything. Absolutely sterling work, just fantastic.Aesthetics wrote: And a special mention to Fredd-E, for the passion, the persistence and for sticking his neck out time and time again to keep people informed, even when it wasn’t always met with kindness. I received one yesterday. I’m at a work thing and can’t write more this moment, but I will in a few hours.
I’m in upstate NY. I’m absolutely convinced it’s legit.

I dont think so. Thats just the old RCA test pattern used for black and white television.Autocode wrote:At 1:08 there is the image from The Outer Limits intro

I wonder if the tapes are just about getting the buzz started and not about relaying any message or instructions that lead tot he next step? How many tapes discovered so far, 10? How many uploaded, 2? If all the videos on the tapes are the same, I don't quite see the point to giving them out other than creating excitement (which I love!).

Feel alright to be proven wrong. Yaysayers got burnt plenty before, so its nice that things really seem to be happening for a change. I'm blaming HAMAD for posting the mold snipped in good quality. Thought this tape thing was just one of his artsy projects. Looking forward to where all this is going. All is love, love is all.ColinWallis wrote: How does it feel, naysayers?
Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC PART II
This might be a stupid question, but has anyone actually looked/felt around inside the VHS sleeve?
Based on what we've been able to put together so far from the audio, it definitely mentions a hexagon-shaped flexi-disc, at least included in each issue of the magazine being advertised. I'm fairly sure it says "bound to each cover," which makes more sense for a magazine than a video tape. (And it'd have to be a very small flexi-disc to fit inside a VHS sleeve.) Still, figured it couldn't hurt to check.

If you watch The Outer Limits video he says "we control the vertical we control the horizontal" which in the VHS tape whoever created it do control the vertical and control the horizontal.HerbTurkey wrote:I dont think so. Just an idea but is there any etching on the actual tape itself of the VHS? Or something inscribed in the lid (which is the bit that lifts up to expose the film)?

I was just about to suggest the same thing, would be quite cheeky if the slipcase itself is a flexidisc with grooves on the interior of one of the sides. Would need to punch a spindle hole to play it of course.Goudeskitchen wrote:Just an idea but is there any etching on the actual tape itself of the VHS? Which leads to a second point. Are any of the verified tape-owners actively participating in these threads? Not that they owe it to anyone to confirm/deny every hare-brained idea, but it would be nice to be able to bounce these ideas off someone with a tape in hand.

I keep thinking about how PIC used a high quality version of ATP-06 on his Instagram story a while back. Was that a teaser of what's coming in this (these?) release(s)?

Also, whilst on the subject of crazy ideas, I wonder if there’s any markings on the case or on the hexagons that can only be seen under a certain light? A little bit like when cashiers mark notes that only show up under UV light.

Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC PART II
So in the VHS video: 5 illuminated hexagons = LP5 incoming?

Re: GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC PART II
Out of all the tape analysis this feels like the most clear-cut point. The five highlighted hexagons feel deliberate.♄ope keeper wrote:So in the VHS video: 5 illuminated hexagons = LP5 incoming?

Pushing that logic further, LP7 would be their last.Twoist wrote:Out of all the tape analysis this feels like the most clear-cut point. The five highlighted hexagons feel deliberate.♄ope keeper wrote:So in the VHS video: 5 illuminated hexagons = LP5 incoming?

I have barely read anything about this new development.
But I was led here, by a series of synchronicities;
"In 1964, the National Geographic Society released Song and Garden Birds of North America, which included 6 sound discs"
Society.
Birds of North America.
6 flexi discs.
Make of it what you will. I love this syzygy of similarities of what's might be going on here. Almost too brilliant to be random

These look like the mirrors on the James Webb Space Telescope, right? Has anyone mentioned that yet? (The final array was larger, but a segment of them looks similar to this)♄ope keeper wrote:So in the VHS video: 5 illuminated hexagons = LP5 incoming?
