Actually, yeah! I was thinking of the more ambient tracks from 'The Fragile' initially, but you're correct, it sounds more like 'A Warm Place.' The resemblance is there, I can't unhear it now.

I absolutely adore this track. Can confirm that it gets better with each listen.

ALSO! I can confirm that when you listen to it with earbuds, different details sort of 'pop out,' fore example a bit of an echoing hint of a melody behind the main stuff.

Also, I believe some of the faint voices in the last 30 seconds were sampled from shortwave radio! It has that familiar tinniness and distortion that voices get when you're barely on the same band/wavelength as the broadcast.
The shortwave sample from the promotional tapes are mostly from UVB-76, so probably same source here.

I'm glad to see that as well!

Check out some of the comments on YouTube and Instagram - A few people were crying while typing.

Some of the top comments on YT are actually beatiful:

"This timeline still has a chance."

"This feels like a new chapter in Life."

"I cranked this a few times on the large screen, lights out, full volume. on about the third listen i broke down in tears. it was such a complicated feeling, but given the state of the world right now and my love for boards of canada, it felt like was like sloughing off decades of epochal grief. i'll be 49 this year. BoC appeared during the hard times; and though now my personal life is wonderful, the world is in shambles. we know the unifying power of this sound. may it ripple forth into the collapse so we may find each other."

"A complete emotional wreck right now, Sobbing uncontrollably overwhelmed with joy hearing this beautiful masterpiece. I've revolved around the earth's sun for 48 years and counting wishing I could have listened to this with my mother right now. The sun is shining outside and even more tears are rolling down my face with a beaming smile."

The optimism is palpable in these comments! The world needs more good news right now....

Honestly, this is exactly what my mental health needed as well. Maybe things are looking up after all? :]

These are images that were displayed inside the Philips Pavillion during the 1959 World's Fair.
Great find! The owl eyes was the thing from the initial tapes I was most interested in sourcing

Oh, very cool! Thanks!

I would be disappointed if there wasn't any 'numbers station' goodness in the new material, lmao.

Commenting to commemorate this day, beautiful stuff as always.

Funnily enough, the initial moments reminded me of that (presumably fake) Close3 audio that's been around for some time, so props to whoever made that.

This is sounding less bleak than TH to me, like it's wanting to find light in the darkness. Excited for whatever comes next, this feels very purposeful and impassioned.

posting for the hype.

i was down with another "dark theme" album and the teasers all seem to point there but this track just seemed like a nice classic pretty boc track. which isnt a problem of course, but yea just thought we'd get something more eerie. theres probably more coming though so we'll see

Welcome home, everyone.
Hehe, same here! I used to post from my work computer at my old job, but then the pandemic hit and we obviously all got sent home (and I couldn't remember my Twoism password).

It's good to be back! <3

The beginning reminds me of "The Disintegration Loops" a lot but unlike those loops it only loops for a while and then keeps building on the premise

Also whatever's going on at 00:30-00:34, BoC looking to sample their 70s porn collection as usual I see

Wow, nice! One of those things that's hard to brush off as coincidence, eh?

I still watch the video of that event sometimes. The snare in Jacquard Causeway sounded so punchy! I'm convinced they toned it down a bit for the final album version of the track.

Anyone else think they'll air a new song in an unannounced public location again this time? Like they did with 'Cold Earth?'

It does sound similar to Live Room by Tim Hecker.

I know it's buried in some of these threads somewhere, but what film is shown at the 1:40 mark with the worshippers and guys with guns? Is it Wild Wild Country?

Time to start rewatching all the cult shows before this album drops!

Amen to that. I don't think we really knew how much we needed this right now.

And yeah, there's some lovely comments on YouTube. That's not something I think I've said before.

This, that's exactly it. It doesn't have the studio precision of their other work by a long shot. Oh boy, could this mean they have a live set....

This is so exciting. It's definitely a life milestone for me. I'm killing myself with anticipation because I'm at work but I'm going to wait until I get home to listen to it on great speakers.

What a time to be alive

I'm very very interested to see how this will fit into the album (if indeed this is actually on the album!) It feels subjective to me, as in, there's obviously strong cult imagery in the video, and this feels like it's soundtracking the *experience* of being in that mindset. To me that's different from the cold & omniscient energy of TH, for example.

To be honest, on the first few listens I'm not a huge fan of the strings. It's a really simple composition, it feels like an overture. But I LOVE the aesthetic and I'm really excited to hear what's next.

They're still sticking with the same visual aesthetic, I wonder how much of that is Warp's doing

One of those clips is 100% from Summer of 72.
