How about we all travel to an abandoned church with some portable speakers and lie down on the floor in the shape of a hexagram to listen to it. When we know the track durations it's easy to set up the timed ignition to ensure successful mass liberation at the end of the ceremony. May I suggest a location with plenty of vegetation so that the fire will spread easily... ;)

Though beautiful that church is, so far I'm getting more evangelical church vibes (less gothic), that tend to look more like airport conference rooms.

Fair enough, here's an abandoned megachurch in Ohio. Actually not the worst spot for a listening party, looks liminal as all hell. Sometimes these places are still wired to the electrical grid and the sound system works. Not trying to give anyone any ideas. I've visited two big abandoned buildings and had to bail the second time because I got anxious about what airborne crap you're inhaling

I think I saw the youtube channel "Proper People" go through this site, or one of those Urbex channels. It seems in America at least, you would honestly have to just hope and pray that you could get through the LP before security comes, but that's just my two cents.

Unlike the UK! Where most abanbonded builds do not in fact have security and most of them are left completely untouched. Sheffield is absolutely full of these but it would have more worked for "Tomorrows Harvest" than this record I think. But its a bit too early to fully picture the vibe. LP5 could in fact be heavily inspired by those illusive "files" by that one man on that one island. It might be more "Eyes Wide Shut" than "Waco".

I quite clearly remember listening to TH on release day on my HD25's from my laptop source (24bit WAV), cranked to max. Was on a comedown and laying there on the sofa moreorless overwhelmed and scared shitless as the album unfolded. Glorious times.

Get some good headphones! Now many years down the line I'm better prepped with HD600's and a proper Fiio headphone amp. Might even justify buying HD800S's if it's that good.

I will be going to the reservoir near my hometown where I used to walk and listen to BoC all the time and sitting down and looking out on my first listen

I’m not sure where I’ll listen first, but alone on headphones while walking. I’m also going to avoid reading anything about it (besides twoism).

Probably taking a few beers with me, headphones, and sit somewhere in one of my most favourite spots in nature nearby.

Personally I try to have a strong mind-body connection. So when I listen to an album seriously I like to be standing up paying full attention and letting the body react to the music. All I need is some place where I can be alone.

Either speakers or headphones is fine by me, I can tolerate mid (not low) audio quality but for me the range of frequencies is very important otherwise you miss a lot of the sounds.

So, anyway, I thought I'd make this thread so we could discuss how we are going to listen to it. Maybe some headphone/hardware recommendations for the best listen? Are you planning anything?

I am debating if to listen to it on my Hi-FI set up first or with my headphones...
The digital release will arrive before the vinyl , so I'll definitely listen to it with my headphones first.

However, as soon as the vinyl arrives home, I'll settle down in front of my setup on the sofa and listen to it all in one go.

Was that an official poster release? Where'd you get it? Want.

LP5 already exists, you're 28 years late:

Well done, you solved the ARG. They actually released their last LP a few months after the first to create a closed loop. The past inside the present.

This is revealed with track 6 being "Fold4,Wrap5" and track 7 "Under BOAC". What happens when you "fold 4"? You get 2. Now you "wrap" it to both 4 and 5... what do you get? That's right. 67. That's why their new logo has seven hexagons, each of which has six sides. Clearly the VHS tapes weren't the real beginning of the campaign, it was their creation of the 67 meme. It refers to the counting in Aquarius, the first thing the voice utters after it starts flipping after "sixtyten" is "six-seven". "Sixtyten" is the real "BoC number" and the theme of two consecutive numbers is telling "look for the previous number". They had already planned it all out in 1998. "Under B(oards )O(f )A(utechre )C(anada)" obviously reveals they're BoC operating under the Autechre name.

Oh and they're also Autechre, that's why they only play in the dark. The pics of "Sean and Rob" are just models. Yaaay.

What are we thinking now that the theme is clearer? I'm gonna listen to it in a dark hot sauna by candlelight myself.

Nah probably not... still contemplating.

This album is hitting me in a place in life where I finally have a fire pit surrounded by trees. I'm excited to use it for this listen

I’m still not sure but one thing that is sure is that there will be no streaming involved.

My initial idea: I'll listen to the digital version on shrooms with my headphones. Really want to open up to it as much as possible.

However! Got a weekender at the club and a marathon so I'll postpone listening to it until after work & parties. Blasphemy!
