Bocuma, IABPOITC and then Peacock Tail when I was going through a particularly challenging moment in my life. I'm still teleported back to the crappy autumn of 2005 whenever I hear it.

It was the first time I ever heard BOC and it was standing in FOPP on Byres Road in Glasgow, playing the Hi Scores EP on the day it was released in 1996. They had decks at the front of the shop with headphones so you could listen to vinyl before you bought. EYDIAB was the first tune I put on as I was drawn to the name. I stood there in a trance trying to hold back tears. The rest his history!

Turquoise Hexagon Sun, on my first listen of MHTRTC a couple of years after it came out.

I was at college and spent most of my evenings hanging with friends and discovering tons of amazing music, a really formative time. Someone put the album on and I knew by the time we were only halfway through An Eagle In Your Mind this was my new favourite band.

I loved the whole album right away, but THS in particular stopped me in my tracks on that first listen – perfectly captured the weird melancholy of leaving childhood behind, the excitement and wonder of becoming an adult and was the perfect soundtrack to that moment in time. It may not even be in my top 10 BOC tracks now but I’ll always have a soft spot for it.

IABPOITC came out not long after that and sealed the deal for me – might still be my favourite release of theirs, tied with Geogaddi and TH.

Tape 05 is such a beautiful teaser, cannot wait to see what they’ve got lined up for us next!

Took me a long while to get Pete Standing Alone... Always seemed too abrasive on my then-crappy hifi and it harshed my having sunk deep into Turquoise Hexagon Sun (which still stops me in my tracks today). Fast forward a few years and PSA might be my favorite on the entire album - I almost wish it went harder

This is almost an impossible task, but I would probably say Smokes Quantity/1986 Summer Fire. There is something so indescribably tethered to my 80s childhood in there, which I guess is part of the whole BoC effect really.

I first heard the track properly mid-2000s when I got heavily into BoC. I was previously aware of them in the 90s but for whatever reason I just didn’t pick up on them until later. I still can’t quite comprehend that they were playing the Phoenix Festival in 1997, which at that time was LITERALLY A 15-MINUTE DRIVE FROM MY HOUSE, and I didn’t go :-(

I am curious, what was the first song that hit “home” so to speak for you guys? The one(s) that almost make you cry with joy for how personal the song feels. For me that was “Over the Horizon Radar” and the bittersweet progression in Orange Romeda. Would love to hear other’s experiences and stories.
Good to see you around, man.

First song that got me in the feels was Open the Light, honestly. Wildlife Analysis is a close second.

Hey dude! Yeah it’s been a little while. This new BoC campaign drew me out of my own bunker so to speak lol Great to see you here too. Brings me back to Warp 30 days and before. Open the Light has such a present and warm progression, that one originally gave me the feels as well. They really love that 4 3 1 progression

ROYGBIV.
It was a tune included on a free CD that came with the NME magazine and the first BoC I ever heard. I used to always buy the issues that came with CDs and still have them all.
Fell in love with the song and the band there and then. I bought MHTRTC very soon afterwards and absolutely loved that too (obviously).
Really good CD too, some other great tunes from Leila, Elliott Smith, Jurassic 5, Godspeed You Black Emperor!...

Yes, it grows on you. The section that begins at 3:29 is so magnificent.

Everything You Do Is A Balloon. I got Hi Scores when it came out, almost 30 years ago, and my OG edition has a lot of surface noise on the lead-in groove for the track because the needle traversed it so, so, so many times.
You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.

Haha, there's an old memory! I read NME religiously, but the copies and discs are long gone. Thanks for the discogs rabbithole I'm about to go down...

I can only narrow it down to three tracks because I'm not sure which I heard first, but one of these, then the others:

1. Everything You Do Is A Balloon
2. Whitewater
3. Poppy Seed (Slag Boom Van Loon -- BoC remix)

That’s a really cool story, do you still have any of those discs?

First time I heard them was in a mix that I recorded from Betalounge in 2001 onto a portable minidisc. Back then I had no idea about BOC and it took me another 3-4 years and another friend introducing them to me that I realized "I know this!" - the track was "Happy Cycling" ... it was as if I finally found what i had been looking for all my life. In Love ever since.

Just checked, the mix is still online!

Those CDs were all so good, always had at least a couple of great tunes on them, sometimes even an exclusive remix.
I used to discover so much cool music via these freebies.
That ON:1 CD, was a great one. Beber–Juvenile Delinquent is one of my all-time favourites!

I wish back in the day here in the states where I am at, that we had more exposure to some of this kind of stuff. The only good electronic I remember as a kid being exposed to was an Aphex video for On on MTV, Broadcast and Mum on Eurozone as well as finding a random copy of “Glam” from Mouse on Mars. Would have been cool to find compilation discs like these.

An Eagle In Your Mind.
I couldn't believe something so subtle and so impactful existed when I first heard it. Especially 3:00 - 3:40.
