Well, we'll see, I guess.Den wrote:Definitely. I can’t imagine deciding to write that in an article just because the name “Tape 05” wasn’t on the tracklist.Altruizine wrote:If this is the reason someone assumes it isn’t there then that’s a bit moronic. They didn't see Tape 05 on the tracklist.
If it is on the album then we’d have heard a ‘single’ before the album was even announced, which is a unique approach. The question is will there be a song released in the same way as Reach for the Dead between now and the 29th.
I'd still bet Tape 05 is actually Father And Son. Same length... Also religious imagery in the video aligns with the title. Even structurally the song is Father (1. half) and Son (2. half).
The first half is dark, foreboding = Father, the vengeful God of the Old Testament.
The second half is light, forgiving = Son, Jesus Christ, the messianic God of the New testament.
Hence the felling of redemption at the end of the song; many of us listeners almost crying...

Re: LP5 - Inferno
What an awesome thing to wake up to! Haven't been this excited for new music since at least 2016 when the last Radiohead album came out, maybe even, well 2013.
I just started a 5 week overseas holiday today, with Tape 05 to enjoy during it, and a new BoC album to look forward to right after I get back!
Tape 05 is a very promising tease, it's a beautiful track, and the track listing sounds very interesting and very BoC! Love the themes the names seem to be hinting at. Can't wait for 29 May!

Father And Son is a very apt title. I think I’m subconsciously not wanting it to be on there so there’s another new track!

Wow then that's on top of all of the random music file hosting over the years, including a mind-blowing one that brought me to the surface. I 2nd that, and thanks all around, the years of consistency are mind-blowing.Aesthetics wrote:Huge shoutout to Techboy for hosting Twoism.org for me. I'd call it "being a human tax". It's basically what I reminded myself of yesterday while all the madness was going on. It's not like the bros themselves would be there at naught-hundred f5ing all day. Grats!DFD21 wrote:Thanks for the link. I tried it - but shipping from the States is pricey and seems a bit pointless. So I have now ordered it from Rough Trade. Paid a bit more plus another fiver for shipping but I guess that's the idiot tax I had to pay.
Re: LP5 - Inferno
In the little info press kit thing that apparently went out to record shops or whatever, it says
"...drawing on the esoteric influences explored in Societas X Tape...."
Presumably all of their releases draw on their esoteric influences. Is it as simple as that? Or is there supposed to be a less trivial connection to SxT?

Re: LP5 - Inferno
I'm feeling fairly confident that some of the unknown stuff on SXT is material that ended up being used for Inferno. IMHO, the sound of SXT and the album cover for Inferno are very synergetic.
Plus, if you look at the last track in SXT, it's got beautiful church organ and rolling waves. "The other shore" in Buddhism refers to enlightenment basically. Could be a connection to the Paradiso at the end of Inferno. Makes me wonder if the last track on the album will be similar!
Maybe they used SXT as a way to ground themselves in the making of Inferno. Like a statement of intent, or a broad brushstrokes look at the direction they're going to take things in.

Glad to be here i'm honestly so excited, the next month until release is going to be brutal.

Re: LP5 - Inferno
Maybe we will get another little something along the way. If not...totally fine. We have made it this far. However, if there is some sort of streamed listening event like there was for TH... I may skip out. It would be hard not to listen but, I think I want a totally fresh experience for my first proper listen. Not something streamed. I say that now but FOMO would probably really kick in.Alberta Clipper wrote:Glad to be here i'm honestly so excited, the next month until release is going to be brutal.

Re: LP5 - Inferno
Apparently, someone shared an update from Bleep about the red vinyls
Welcome to a roundup of our most anticipated pre-orders.
Following a bread crumb trail of hexagons and VHS tapes hinting at something new, Boards of Canada have returned with Inferno, their first new album in 13 years. You may have noticed that due to a large volume of traffic to the site yesterday, Bleep was momentarily down. This was due to the large demand for this release, and Warp Records have updated the release info for the deluxe vinyl format:
We have experienced overwhelming demand for this record. We want to supply all orders, and so are keeping the presses going to match demand. The record is currently being pressed at multiple pressing plants around the world. Customers who have already received order confirmations should still get their order on, or close to release date. From this point, we can not guarantee that orders will be delivered by release day, and it is likely there will be some delay, but we will get them to you as soon as possible. The release date listed here is a long date and should be improved upon. Digital formats will be available for download from 29th May. We will not keep pressing this format beyond the release date. The black vinyl format will be repressed and kept in stock moving forward beyond release date.

I emailed Consequence re: Tape 05and got this reply. In like a few minutes.
- re: that Boards of Canada news post, "Tape 05" wasn't listed at all on the tracklist. Maybe it's on there but they've changed the name. But the press release we were given did not reference it being on the album, and it was not included on the tracklist they sent. My guess is it's a "promotional single" for lack of a better term
