It wasn't the BoC album I wanted. I was really disappointed they didn't make Geogaddi 2, I guess. Anyway, the only track that gave me the kind of spine tingling sensation I came to expect was "Oscar See Through Red Eye".
It took years for me to appreciate TCH, but now I love it and hold it in the same high regard as I do with the rest of their official catalog. "Oscar Sees Through Red Eye" still remains my favorite track.
Oscar See Through the Red Eye, musically, has all these tripped out effects popping out nearly every second. Every time you turn a corner there's a new one. The amount of ideas they had for this song alone was staggering.
Also speaking of the Residents, a guy on Reddit claims to have met Marcus earlier this year and he has this to say: He and my brother’s friend chatted about old music equipment and high-end speakers, totally over my head lol! He told me he was jealous I was going to see The Residents as well I started gushing a little bit also about how crazy it was we were sat opposite each other when I’d been bumping his music for as long as I can remember.
I take this guy with a grain of salt but I thought it was interesting that he'd mention that Marcus (real or fake) was interested in the Residents.
They are a band BOC would be into. Complete outsider artists who shelved their second record (Not Available) after recording it and never intended it for release because it was "too personal" and revealed too much about them. Sound familiar? Luckily for Residents fans, they released it (and it's a masterpiece) unlike Hooper Bay and the like.

For sure! The Residents are right up there with Severed Heads in terms of weirdness / originality.WATER_CAN-_- wrote:Echelon wrote:I can totally understand why a big fan of Geogaddi would connect most to this song on TCH.Josh wrote:I was so excited when TCH came out after what seemed like an eternity since Geogaddi, but I remember my first listen and how disappointed I was. I love the little background atmospheric chords that come in at 53s on Oscar, I don't know why, but it reminds me of India. I am sure they use or sample some instruments found in Hindustani music in this track. Distinctly got a more eastern flair to it.

It seems like they love Indian Classical music. I’m thinking of the Hindustani flute line at the end of Mr. Mistake, and then the M.S. Subbulakshmi track on Societas X Tape.Orbited insanitarium wrote:I love the little background atmospheric chords that come in at 53s on Oscar, I don't know why, but it reminds me of India. This song is by far one of my favorites by BoC. It is filled with layers upon layers of reversed ingenuity and textures that just work so well together. I understand it's not a big favorite, but I don't know what it is about it, it just really works for me.

This one was a grower for me. I used to skip it because it was so jarring but now it hits in a such a rewardingly odd way. Like you said, layers and layers. The most oddball track they have ever done and I absolutely love it.TaoTapeTao wrote:This song is by far one of my favorites by BoC. I agree with this 100 percent. It's amazing to think how you'd go about making something like this, would you do it all in one go? My head canon is they played around with this one groove a while improvising new ways to work with it and arranged their favourite ones togetherTaoTapeTao wrote:This song is by far one of my favorites by BoC.
