What BoC song first got you in the “feels”?

First BoC I heard was the old tunes tape. That whole tape opened my eyes so much & I felt an instant connection. The trick is BoC reach deep into your subconscious & tap into the nostalgia bon. The projector sounds, the tones & themes of old PSA films that we all watched in school to Sesame Street that most of us absorbed into the soundtrack of our childhood. Even the travelling we did in summer, the clickety clack of trains on a track with drifts of distant seaside noise, children playing & the faint chimes of ice cream vans etc. The landscapes they create with sound can be vast, desolate & lonely but littered with moments of beauty. Much like the Scottish/Canadian countryside. I live near the borders of Scotland & BoC is the perfect theme music for driving through Northumberland & Scotland.

ROYGBIV.
It was a tune included on a free CD that came with the NME magazine and the first BoC I ever heard. I used to always buy the issues that came with CDs and still have them all.
Fell in love with the song and the band there and then. I bought MHTRTC very soon afterwards and absolutely loved that too (obviously).
Really good CD too, some other great tunes from Leila, Elliott Smith, Jurassic 5, Godspeed You Black Emperor!...

This CD was my intro too! It's great; that Leila track still makes it onto playlists now.

In typical BoC style, ROYGBIV still reminds me of a very particular moment it time. Which was weird because that moment was in 1995 and ROYGBIV came out 3 years later.

Olson for me. I randomly came across it at some point in 2019, it unlocked something dormamt in my brain. It felt like someone giving you the warmest of hugs while lifting you up into the sky at high speed. Then gently placing you into a turquiose coloured ethereal waiting room. After it finished I immediatley looked BoC up and the rest was history!

The early albums completely bewitched me, but to offer a different angle, "Nothing is Real" looped itself in my head for weeks. I'd wake up with those understated muted chimes playing. I've never experienced such an effect from one of their tracks. Kinda reminds me of Suzanne Vega's Solitude Standing album fir some reason.
