Does it have any longer, distinct / 'singable' melodies? Kinda like Roygbiv, Smallest Weird Number, Dayvan, Peacock, IABPOITC, Kid For Today?

Prophecy at 1420 mhz has a couple melodies that come close but I'd say (somewhat arbitrarily) they're more like riffs

My answer to this would be no, and that very fact would likely be my biggest "criticism", but I wouldn't want to judge anything before a proper headphone listen. The album had amazing beats, cinematic build ups, lots off cool surprises, but it definitely seemed to lack classic Mike moments.

6.30 session London. Great venue. Love the goodie bag and T. It's a lot to take in all in one go after waiting so long for new stuff. Beats are hard, lots of vocals. First 4 tracks amazing, dropped off a little in the middle. Repitious techno type track then followed, 2 song from the end my fav. Classic BoC with nostalgic visuals. Overall : 10/10. I loved it. Can't wait to hear again and be the soundtrack of my summer.

The whole thing is soundtrack as fuck. Quite a few things seem like responses to other things they've done, in a good way. Not that they sound similar, but there's a track that seems in the same kind of world as Cold Earth. One has a thing in the background reminds me of EYDIAB, while still sounding totally different overall

Very melodically dense, lots of things blending into other things. Some really surprising bits of guitar that go in a direction I wouldn't expect.

A lot of it has a strong simple rhythmic spine that then gets embellished with other percussive elements.

The second but last track is a highlight. The only one they lit up the projections in turquoise not orange, it's a very turquoise tune

Witchy in places. Like a seventies horror film about a folkloric enemy would be. TH was barren and hollow in places, like a call into the void. this sometimes feels like what answered.

Religiony in a way that SxT was in parts. Hard to tell because a lot of that was in vocal samples that the PA in the venue didn't make clear.

Overall, I had an amazing time, couldn't believe I was there and hearing it.

Oh hey that was the session I was at, I'm off camera to the left quite a long way.

Woman in the front row of the rightmost bank of seats was next to me in the queue. I was second in the queue, she was third. Turned up not having a ticket! But spoke to the people running it and asked if someone had a spare.

They went off and came back a while later with a guy who's friend hadn't turned up and she got in! We had a cool chat about gigs we've been to.

The track sounded nothing like what that suggests. But I bet I can remember which one it was when I hear it again. Or, think "what the fuck were you on" possibly.

If it's the same track I'm thinking of then it reminded me of a) The Knife's gender fluid vox and b) Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares...which BoC namechecked in an early interview back in the day. Acts of Magic? (I kinda lost count of tunes vs tracklist)

Was an interesting night in Glasgow and great to hang with Techboy once again.

I was at the 8:15 show in London. Not sure if I wasn't paying attention, but I don't believe we got the family visuals for the penultimate track that people are talking about, unless I just had my eyes closed through it!

Either way, very interesting listen, some incredibly beautiful moments and major atmosphere throughout. I reckon this album will sound incredible with headphones.

That one track in the middle with the breathing throughout made me tear up. The ambient moments on this album are stunning.

Not seen anyone mention it yet, but the burst of sound at the very beginning of the show, before any of the voices start, is from the February 2006 voice transmission on UVB-76 (the buzzer station) which was also heard towards the end of the promo VHS tapes.



The male voice that follows this also sounds like the same one that speaks on those tapes, and uses some similar phrases:

“Welcome to the MBI Institute. You have been selected to participate in our ongoing mass behavioural initiative. The waver you have signed confirms your understanding of the process and any potential side effects. During the session, you will hear specially designed audio triggers, what we call ‘hex recordings’.”
