Re: 04. Age Of Capricorn
The marvellous sample possibly found over on Reddit.
Blood in the Labyrinth samples a documentary about PCP ("Angel Death.")
After watching that documentary (it's great, & features music more unsettling than anything BoC have done!) I sought out more PCP documentaries.
In this one ("Angel Dust") few minutes in this guy says, "It's marvellous!"
Then later he recites the alphabet.
Sounds like a match?

Re: 04. Age Of Capricorn
There's a beauty to this that mirrors deep time but it's not as straightforward.
Three different layers of vocals all doing some kind of prayer. You've got the guy trying to summon Mabus, the Christian praying and some devotional singing.

I think the voice says 'Mabus' which is a reference to Nostradamus who foretold that Mabus was the name of the antichrist.paultomba wrote:The marvellous sample possibly found over on Reddit.

The vocal melody that fades into this one has been stuck in my head since the listening event. This track has such a unique feeling to it, a real spirituality to it imo.

Samples have been found from the Art Bell Show (2004) and A.D. 2000: The End? (1990)

Anyone else getting choked up when those vocals deep in the mix come in around the time of the Preacher? Same thing Deep Time does to me.

Yeah, so the voice is saying Mabus not Marvellous.
Re: 04. Age Of Capricorn

this might be the most emotional one for me so far. it's just so soul-crushingly sad while being so triumphant and uplifting.ryetronics wrote:Anyone else getting choked up when those vocals deep in the mix come in around the time of the Preacher? Same thing Deep Time does to me.

I'm still on the fence here. If it is saying Mabus then they edited it to sound like Marvelous since there's an extra syllable when he repeats the word (at least that's what I'm hearing).

Re: 04. Age Of Capricorn
I can hear a little skip or chop when he Annunciates mah*bus (mabus), it does sound like marvellous
Re: 04. Age Of Capricorn
I think it's Ma-a-bus hence the extra syllable, but it's entirely possible it's an edit of the "it's marvellous!" sample paultomba mentioned.

Re: 04. Age Of Capricorn
I saw this on google:
"It is “Usama.” Thus a true phonetic spelling makes his name a classic fit for Mabus if one follows Nostradamus’ rules of wordplay. “Usama” = maaus. Drop the redundant “a” and replace with a single letter allowed by the rule and Insert a “b” = Mabus."

Here's the sample from the Angel Dust documentary alongside the Capricorn sample.akirako wrote:I think it's Ma-a-bus hence the extra syllable, but it's entirely possible it's an edit of the "it's marvellous!" sample paultomba mentioned.
Sounds more than just "Mabus" to me.

Re: 04. Age Of Capricorn
Beyond beautiful. Currently my favorite track on the record, unlikely to change I imagine.
Absolutely. I'm not religious at all and really have a strong disdain for televangelists but that chanting paired with the music and spoken word just gets me every time.ryetronics wrote:Anyone else getting choked up when those vocals deep in the mix come in around the time of the Preacher? Okay...now...wait for fog machine.

Re: 04. Age Of Capricorn
This is one of my favorites, easily. Top 3.
And yeah, I was gonna say, like... I was raised in a very Christian household and hearing the prayer takes me back to a VERY warm and fuzzy place. Feels like I'm getting tucked into bed.

Re: 04. Age Of Capricorn
It's been bugging me since the listening session what this one reminded me of, and then it came to me while walking the dog this morning - Unkle's "Eye For An Eye". Not so much the bass/drums breaks, more the mood building, sample heavy passages.
“Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Heres Tom with the weather."
